Radio transmissions detected at 32,65.
188552 men are based at Saipan.
4th AA Regiment is located at Toyama.
Hawker's plan now is clear: China! More transports are spotted at Canton....
Well, probably that's the best place to use those divisions. But as Arsta. pointed out it means that no crack jap divisions will be defending the pacific ( a part from the 2nd which is reported at PM).
However, his betties are still there, high experienced. So i won't make any risky gamble for the moment. The score is on my side, and if i can avoid losing Russia, i'm not that sure that even losing China he will get the autovictory.
No, my counterattacks will remain as planned for the moment.
1- In China i will clearly have to defend now, but that doesn't scare me too much( one more Canadian Bde has been sent to Chungking).
2- In the Aleutinas i cannot move untill the KB remains in Japan: too risky. But at the same time, whenever he will be forced to use his KB somewhere else, i'll be ready to open that front.
3-In Southern DEI everything is getting ready for the jump on Timor. But i'm not in hurry. I'll wait to have enough troops and ships.
4- With the SAA deplaced in China, I'll force the status quo in Burma. Men,ships and planes are moving towards Rangoon.

RE: Java is lost
It's either make comments on this game or lie on my back with metal flakes raining into my eyes trying to fix a sink, so here are your comments:
I think Hawker is making a big mistake putting more troops in China. He can stop your Chinese offensive and take back some of the country, but he is not going to eliminate China even if he defeats it.
If those troops went to Russia he could defeat you there and wipe Russia off the map. Then he has a free army and you have a big problem.
If you just play for time in China you will do a lot to win the game for yourself.
Enjoy, and do launch some moves against him in the Pacific. The Americans should take some part in the war.

I completely agree with you tom. However i'm not going to complain because of that choice[:D].
I'm thinking about how to use the yanks in the pacific. I could go for Lunga-Tulagi, but I still fear a lot his betties. What i really like to do is to bypass the solomons and make a big effort in the Kwalajein area( Marshalls)...but i need some more time for that cause it would be a great and risky operation...
Anyway the Marines 1st and 2nd divisions are moving towards Darwin. The Timor front will be opened soon...

40 units today spotted at Canton. It would be damned hard to hold against this incredible force. I think that there may be 450,000-500,000 japanese troops there...he's gonna have some problems with supplies, but anyway these masses can destroy almost everything. I have 100,000 men there, but more are coming...lets' see if i manage to hold or not.
At Hailar, Northern Manchuria( border with Russia), he has 12 units now. I have 1200 APs facing them on the border, with more 600 in reserve at Bozrya....but i still hold the skies there...
Japanese BBs and CAs spotted around Okinawa....moving North-east...i bet these beasts are coming for Vladivostok....

At Canton the greatest land battle of all the times is ready to begin. I have 125,000 men right now there...it's not enough,i know:-(
I've managed to get 2 squadrons of 48 planes each of LB-30 from Darwin to Rangoon[:D]. I've had to abbandon 22 of them on a empty base of Borneo, but the loss worths the price of having 96 more operative 4Es in Asia!
Nothing much more to report....

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/11/42
Nothing much to report today. Enemy's BBs are at Fusan( southern Korea). I'm doing my best to mantain the balance of my forces, but Japan still has a great force with his BBs, a force that i have nothing to oppose to....
We bombed Harbin today. the city is burning ( 700 fires reported). Hope some damage will be suffered in the next days...
96 Liberators are almost ready to be brought to Chungking[8D]

His BBs are 6 hexes far from Vladivostok. That means he will kick me out of the world on the next night-phase[:(]. I have nothing to do but pull back my air force to Imam and see my Capital brought back to stoneage[:@]. I've placed some subs on the path of his ships, lets see if i can get lucky sometimes....
9 Welligtons today tried to attack his BBs. Yamato is the flag ship. As predicted the 500lb bombs didn't even scratch the paint of the greatest battleship of all the time...but at least we've see her and her group!
Liberators are ready in China[8D]

RE: the Heat
In my Lunacy game I have been able to slow 350,000 Japanese troops with 110,000 Chinese, an L9 fort was reduced to L7 and then to L5 in a week of attacks. Then I got another 100,000 troops in and the threat was ended.
Elsewhere I have been able to hold L9 forts with 175,000 men fighting 325-350,000.
All my troops are in decent supply and thanks to a lot of careful work on my part they are all at least XP 59 and often in the 60s and 70s.
Hopefully this will help you some in your defense of China.

Tom, the problem is that at Canton i have no forts, cause i don't hold the city. I can only count on the terrain bonus ( urban).
Anyway, now the situation is pretty stable. Hawker doens't seem to want to speed up the pace in China...at least for now....
Anyway, support and supplies are at a very good status in China. I hope to hold some ground...

Now Vladivostok AF is closed. Anyway i'm still confident, cause i still hold a quite strong air force in the area. The idea is to LRCAP Vladivostok and make him pay a price for his bombardments...
Mutakiang AF is daily hit by my b-17s. The AF is closed, which is fine cause it's the most dangerous AF in the area...

Another day of great battles over the skies of Russia!
This game is balanced and fun!!
With his BBs going back to Fusan, Hawker decided to use his bombers to reduce Vladivostok, with the usual 5 daitais of zeros sweeping the base for them...

Very depressing. Now with the BBs at only 4 hexes i had to move back all my air forces from Vladivostok and retire at Imam....
At the same time the Liberators from Changsha managed to hit some resources at Nanchang..

[:D][:D][:D] Hawker won't be pleased:-)
His BBs didn't score a single hit on the Vladivostok Structures...I've been lucky this time[:)]
But 20 allied subs( placed on the path of the jap fleet) didn't even spotted the incomming big ships...[:@]

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/15/42
Another day of great battles over the skies of Russia!
This game is balanced and fun!!
With his BBs going back to Fusan, Hawker decided to use his bombers to reduce Vladivostok, with the usual 5 daitais of zeros sweeping the base for them...
My LRCAP from Himam was not the greatest one i've ever seen, however we did a very good Job!

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/16/42
Hawker's bombers and zeros remained in Japan today, probably licking their wounds.
There were no major air combats today. Hawker however is sending again his BBs. The Yamato-group is spotted very close to our coasts. I relymy few hopes of damaging the BBs on my subs...which is not that much, i know[:(].
However, it won't be as easy as it was for Java: our air force becomes ever day stronger and my defensive positions won't be that easy to overunn.
The 96 liberators are almost ready to start bombing Japan...probably 3 more days of resting in Northern Siberia, then we'll be ready to go.[8D]
Take a look at the typical bombardment routine of the Russian air force in Manchuria..

RE: the Heat
Idea I get in my currernt pbem, but not yet experienced, to counter bombardment TF is to lay mines not in the base hex (as if set to no escort bombard, BB will avoid getting closer to the shores to hit mines), but to lay these mines in the previous hex on the TF path to its target or on its way back.
I know that mines won’t last long time in open sea, but this might be an opportunity to hit some of the enemy ships on their way, when subs seems so ineffective….
Never yet tried it as my enemy TF are hidden for the time being so can’t promise you a success, but might be worth a try….

RE: the Heat
Hi,
at the moment my subs are acting more as a deterrent than any real threat. However the us subs carry very few mines and it's a long trip going from/to PH...
I hope to see them acting at least against the cripples....
AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/18/42
A good day, especially for my morale.
The day started with a night naval bombardment. 10 BBs[X(]...they hit me hard, but i know this is just the beginning!
Anyway, the BBs got back, without any intervention of my 18 subs...[:@]
At the fist lights of the new day, the Japs decided to close the game with Vladivostok, sending in 2 waves of bombers. I had a very small LRCAP, composed only by western allied fighters.
.................
Results were FANTASTIC!
25 sallies shot down, many more damaged and many others that turned back before reaching the target[8D].
Then my Liberators from Bozrya hit the HI at Harbin...52 HI reported destroyed[8D][8D][8D][:D]
Then it came the time of my beauforts.... i've placed 12 of them at Naghowhatever....the base was badly damaged but the runaway was still usable ( 37 damage)...they took off in small groups and one of them managed to put a fish inside the FUSO[;)].
Damage should not be that big, but at least she's out of the line for some time....one BB less to bother with[;)]
Overall...a good day!

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 06/19/42
The day was quiet. My air recon in Russia today was real bad performing...we did not spot the BBs...[:(]
However seems Hawker is keeping his CVs awake. None of them is reported in Japan and in fact today, an AK that had just brought 16 Kittihawks to the most eastern Russian naval base got clobbered by Kates...that's very good cause if the Northern Theatre ( Aleutinas),using the strategy of the Fleet Being, is keeping him busy here...
I have to rest my bombers in Russia....after days of continuos missions against different targets they are in a terrible shape[:(]. The Liberators are almost ready to come into the Russian Party.
In The Pacific i'm moving everything for the next offensives...
4 Operations are planned for the last 6 months of 1942:
- The Royal Navy, along with British and Indian troops, supported by the mighty RAF will conduct the operation called: TIGER
- The Marine Corp, supported by the US Navy and by US and Marina Aviations will perform the operation called:
LEOPARD
- The Australian Army will conduct the operation called:
LION
- and finally the Chinese Army will prompt the operation:
JAGUAR

RE: the Heat
Just a personal observation but B-24s seem to fatigue their crews faster than B-17s. No idea why this occurs, but it does seem to happen.

Well, for sure B-24s are less strong than b-17s for what concerns A2A....i gotta say that i didn't notice the difference for what concerns fatigue...

Anyway, Vladivostok AF is closed, and with his BBs coming and going it's gonna be really hard to open it again.
His CVs are lurking around some 10 hexes south of Attu Island, probably looking for my convoys...
Hawker is still waiting for something, both at Vladivostok and at Canton...he doesn't attack with his land forces...[&:]quite strange indeed...
The first 2 groups of 16 spitfires are operative in Russia. These babies will be very important for the defence of my air space. 32 more Kittyhawks and 12 Wirraways managed to get into Russia today, both from China and from Alaska.
Mutakiang AF remains closed, bombed daily by the combined allied air force.
Still waiting to see my subs trying to do their job[:@]...
24 days before Wasp CV comes to SF...then we'll be ready to dance in the Pacific[;)]
