I don't think TKs can be part of a replenishment TF

I guess you meant "dumb" question rather than a question that came to you whilst sitting on the toilet[:D]

Actually it should be quite opposite. In IT guys doing "dump analysis" are quite smart [:D]

As for the question itself, once AO are placed in replenishment TF they will refuel other TF automatically. I think you still can use TK for that purpose, just need to press "replenish TF at sea" button...

Allied TKs don't.

In the system, it turns out there are 3 ways to refuel at sea ( maybe more - these are the ones I can think of ).

1. The replenishment TF ( which to my knowledge can only have TK if the scenario starts them in the TF - otherwise they can have AO but not TK )

2. Intra-Task-Force fuel transfer ... this can happen automatically .. or when pressing the "refuel at sea" button .. usually this moves fuel from the larger ships ( like BBs ) to the smaller ones ( like DDs ).

3. Inter-Task-Force fuel transfer ... If I have for example a TF with 1 AK ... and another TF with 1 sub ... in the same hex ... I can refuel the sub off the AK by pressing the "refuel at sea" button .. I guess this simulates like the early war german supply ships at sea. In the game it can become a be-all-end-all .. and can also be used to fuel DD task forces ...

I believe that TK can be part of a replenishment TF. In WITP I have seen TK use part of their fuel store to refuel ships in long convoys. Have not had a chance to see that in WPO yet.

Changed Dump to Dumb:-) And yes it was a question that I thought up while contemplating life and wargames.

this is TF2 in WITP which has TK in replenishment. But once you diband it there is no way to have them again there. In CHS there is AO in TF2.

I think he means like if you put TK in a transport TF some of the fuel will be "siphoned off" into the AK that might also be in the TF ... I've probably seen this too .. but I think TK will not fuel each other if in same TF ...

But primary intended way to fuel at sea is replenishment TF with AO. Secondary, probably intended way is smaller ships fueling off larger ships in same TF ... and third, maybe not intended way ... don't know ... is ships fueling off larger ships in other TFs in the same hex ...

In the manual for both WITP and WPO, TKs are valid units for Replenishment TF. Yet when I try to create a Replenishment TF with a TK in the game it does not work so it must have been changed at some point and not updated in the manual.

I remember some chat on the WitP forum. Originally TKs were going to be allowed as replenishment vessels but this got changed at a late stage but they forgot to amend the manual. Don't know what the excuse was for the WPO manual [;)]

You are right. WPO has much better price performance... all these subs with plenty torpedos chasing their priceless binary targets... [:D]
