Had I parked an AK at the port since the second week of the game set to load no spoilage would occur either. This same AK, and all subsequent, load supplies (non manufactured so are rice, coffee etc) and move to Java a few hexes away and translate this coffee, rice into TOE replacements. Thus, few AKs replace entire convoys from Japan and accomplish the same thing, totally compomising the logistics model and negating much of the targets of any traditional/historical Allied sub campaign.

Bill is still cruising about in the South Pacific with mini KB. My advice to Bill...don't press your luck too long like I did and loiter in the hot sun.(barely escaping disaster too, I did! )
We like it down here. Come on in and join us. I have a few torpedos I would like to share with you.[:'(] Maybe we are hanging around for a reason. You just never can tell.

Supply
Hi, Ron here is the point I have been trying to make.
Suppose
1. There is no Pacific War
2. Japan controls all the locations inside SRA that she captured in Pacific War.
Now what would the supply situation for Japan be?
1. She would have a surplus of supply
2. She would have control of more oil and resource then she could transport or use once transported.
Japans supply shortage therefore must have been a result of Allied action and not a basic starting point.
If you cause Japanese supply shortage by reducing it at start you are doing all the work that the Allied powers took from 1941 to late 1944 to accomplish.
I realize I can not get you to stop worrying about how the supply is used. I will only attempt to show you it was there to be used.
However one little attempt
Dutch at Soerabaja.
30k supply at start. Assume 10k of this stock is not supply or ammo but stockpiled weapons and aircraft.
As TOE items handed out the supply total would drop however it is replaced by local supply. But this is what would occur if supply was tracked by item. Aircraft are destroyed and removed from play but in reality many such aircraft were recovered (if the parts could be found) so when you pay for the entire cost of a replacement aircraft you are actually paying more then if spare parts were tracked. (You actually use more supply in present system then in a system that tracked spare parts)
TOE items are only replaced if 2x required supply present. So Java has to already be supply "rich" to start with. So worrying over this has always appeared to me to be a bit picky. Just my opinion. In the large picture however I still think your starting point is incorrect. The SRA was a supply bonaza to Japan. The problem was and must be in WITP transporting it. How it is used inside the SRA is minor because the war is not going to be fought there. It is correct if this supply moves to Japan or Pacific or remains. (It should be up to Japanese player how it is used)
This leaves a simple fact for Allied player. He must make efforts to stop the movement of SRA supply. In actual war this took till 1944. (The effect of being denied food from SRA took effect rapidly. Humans starve quite fast)
Just like before you invade Tarawa you deny it supply for a period of time the Allies must deny supply movement throughout the empire. The results after that are so onesided that as Japan I surrender when supply no being created and bombers are in range of Home islands. (Brady has done this and date is only Sept 1943 so in WITP the collapse comes quite fast)
750k supply is not squat.

Hi, You would have needed to park 5 AKs there. However the Japanese can't park AK there on turn 1. And TOE replacements require 2x required supply and HQ. (not bloody likely unless Java is being invaded by a single Mixed bde)
What is difference on AK from Toboali to Java or Toboali to Japan as far as sub targets in 1942 go? After SRA falls then this supply must be transported to South or Cenral Pacific or Burma or China. (All of it exposed to submarine attack)
I'm not retreating, I'm attacking in a different direction!

Does New Zealand have any resources in CHS? I think it's ridiculous that the stock game has NZ incapable of providing any food or small arms ammunition for its forces whatsoever.

RE: Bill (IJ) vs Ron (Allies): An examination of Supply and Fuel using CHS 1.06
There has been a conspicuous lack of Japanese CAP over many bases and TFs the last week or so. None at Canton, Amboina, and over the Kendari Invasion TF. Fortune is favouring the good guys! Speaking of 4E bombers, has anyone notice the lack of "the hordes of 4E bombers" reported in non CHS games? I'm finding it difficult to keep the few groups I have up to full strength let alone upgrade more squadrons.

Yet ANOTHER open sea hex naval interception! This is unheard of. Too bad Doorman did not live up to his ratings for aggressiveness, this performance was abyssmal to say the least. How does one fail to come to grips with a whack of flaming transports at night considering the TF was undoubtedly in disarray after the pasting it took yesterday. I'm starting to think that, like bombardments are all modelled after the the October 42 Henderson Field example, all actions vs escorted transports/carriers are modelled after the Action off Samar where a few US escorts held off Kurita's BBs, forgetting that the escorts can be duped on occasion like at Balikpapan in Feb 42. No doubt half my ships were "off doing something else" but the darn replay save failed to load so I missed out on some action but I'm sure only Java and one DD contacted the enemy despite all the flames erupting from the enemy transports. Oh well...[8|][:(]

RE: Bill (IJ) vs Ron (Allies): An examination of Supply and Fuel using CHS 1.06
The static units should have been restricted to base hexes.
At least then they might get some supply and survive.
The way they are set up causes them to wither and die by lack of supply, or isolation and destruction by the Japanese player.
As you say, easy VP's and training for the Japanese.

Pretty sure Andrew and the guys are reviewing the static units. Can only learn through play and from the deaths of tens of thousands of legless Chinese![:D]

RE: Bill (IJ) vs Ron (Allies): An examination of Supply and Fuel using CHS 1.06
Bill and I are trading turns so fast that I've only been able to paste the reports lately. I'll add summaries and pics later. Sorry to anyone reading.
As can clearly be seen, both Singapore and Manila are still flying the Union Jack and Old Glory respectively, and are still rather capable of holding out longer. The situation in China is fairly static, with the Battle for Wuchow heating up. Burma is fairly quiet as the ongoing seige of Singapore is tying up IJA units earmarked for ops there. The DEI is still fairly secure thanks again to Singapore's and Manila's defenders. SOPAC is not so good, and neither is CENTPAC, as all Japan's carrier assets have been supporting operations in these areas and the USN was caught ensuring Hawaii's security, leaving the defence of both areas to very limited naval, air and land assets in the regions. NORPAC and WESPAC are quiet, with only a few enemy sub contacts.
