Well, this is not as funny as it seems. Iran is going to get a nuke in the next 2-3 years. Israel already has some 30-50 warheads. And both countries have enough guts to use them.

I know it's quite far from the West Coast but we are going to get some radiation fallout too.

Pakistan and India have been pretty much in that situation for a long time.

The problem with weapons ... you can't *uninvent* them.

At the very same time, you can't have a boys club (todays situation) and dictate to the non-members that they can't join.

If you are not willing to (REALLY) go to war and wipe the other guy off the planet, then there is little that can be done.

Sooner or later, someone who shouldn't have one will get one and set it off somewhere. The probelm is likely to be that the person setting it off is not representing the people of whatever country they happen to come from.

Sad, but ... there are those that have, and those that don't ... as long as that condition exists, the planet is pretty much screwed [:(]

I tend to agree with Frag (eeek!).

However I'm of the opinion that those weapons are a complete and total waste of both money and resources. Whoever sets one off is a deader anyways, no one would want to be anywhere near you so getting into a friendly country might be abit of a problem.

If the Israelis and Iranians were really as crazy as that then they'd already be gone. Israel has nukes, Iran has chemicals and perhaps biologicals, Israel may have those as well. They haven't used them on each other yet. Alot of the rhetoric is often for domestic consumption. Not that's not to say that accidents won't happen but the prospect of a nuclear armed Iran doesn't immediately speak of war. I mean, why would they use one? Sure they drop one or two and then they get obliterated. More likely they would develop one to discourage any attempts at "regime change."

The only thing that really concerns me, in terms of International Law, is that the when we, the western powers( yes, ok, the US and its vassals), decide that one country cannot have that kind of weapon, we say something like : it's our RIGHT to stop this procedure..... right???? well...If tomorrow Italy would decide( yes i know it won't but...) to have its own nuke, and someone, that already has it, would come up to me saying: "No, you cannot, because i don't want you to grow stronger as me"....well...believe me: i'd go really pissed off.

That said i don't want Iran to have the nukes. If it was for me, Iran should had always been a British protectorate, like India, Pakistan etc etc... So i'm ok to stop the Iranian Nuclear program, i just don't like the way they defend their choices behind the words RIGHT or LAW...which are much more serious things.

And the only way to keep them from having nukes - when all is said and done - is to DO something about it, however distasteful that may be. I don't like it any more than the next fella, but it's the hard, adult reality of the world. If you want to see what happens when everything is handled in the (powerless) courts (whether international or not) check out Rwanda, Bosnia, the Kurds, etc., et al, ad infinitum.

After WIE, I hope that Matrix & 2by3 will consider developing WITP II

The question is not about who is allowed or who is not allowed to have a nuke. The question is why would someone need a nuke? Iran has no enemies except US. So they need it for protection from US? Ha-ha, like it's going to help them.

As far as I understand elections in Iran were falsified to bring into power a hardliner, former terrorist (or freedom fighter, whatever).
Now this guy keeps jabbering about moving Israel to Alaska, or may be Switzerland, denies Holocaust (which is a criminal offence pretty much in all democratic states), predicts apocalypses and eradication of Jews.

He sounds like a lunatic. Well, look in the eyes of that guy. It's like looking at the rattle snake. He will kill millions without holding a breath.

Now I don't think US is going to invade Iran in any case (or even initiate some kind of embargo). China would never approve any kind of embargo because they need independent from US source of oil.

If pressed too hard Iran could stop oil exports (15-20% of world's output), they can survive without flat screen TV and computers. If situation escalates they would mine Ormuz straits or sink some blockade ships there, effectively cutting off another 40% of oil.

So i think the best solution would be B-2 strike on all nuclear facilities in Iran. Not going to happen. So i think we will see Israelis trying to do the same with 3rd generation jets. Unless Russians sell to Iran their advanced SAMs. Something better than US Patriot, S300M(?).

As someone who was at receiving end of US "stick" at one time in my life, I must say I can understand Iranian point of view and why they want to have nuclear weapons. Sadly, we still live in a world where force and not International law is what counts.
But am I comfortable with Iran having nuclear weapon? No, I'm not sure that Iranian government's grip on power is so firm to guarantee control on it... to much influence by Mullahs for my taste.
