Graphics problems windows ME (WatW)

Post by ecouillard@rogers.co »

Hello!

Just purchased a copy of World at War and installed it (without problems) on my machine (Windows ME, 256 MB RAM). I know I don't meet the minimum requirement for RAM as stated on the box but the game is working just fine on my son's computer (Win XP, 256 MB RAM). The problem is that the text seems to be double spaced and it comes out of the boxes in the game menus. Example: "Difficulty level" is not written inside the box but it over flows and interferes with other text. I have the same problem in "Game Options" and "Preferences". I could very well be a Display Driver problem with Win Me but I am rather confused with this one...

The remainder of the game seems to be working just fine.

Help!

IIRC the game does not officially support Win ME (although some may have gotten it to work ok). I would check to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Perhaps someone else with Win ME that uses WaW can post here and let us know whether it works on Win ME.

All drivers have been updated but to no avail... I guess this explains why I am the only "looser" left running the "amazing" Win ME version!!!

It's time to upgrade... Thanks anyway!

Disapointed :|

P.S. Windows Me has to be the worst OS ever created!

I got Win ME to run GGWaW just fine!
I like ME, it's waaaay better than '98, and even 2000, in that I've seen people with 2000 have tons of problems...

As Joel noted, we don't officially support WinME for this game, but others have gotten it to work. You might check and see if you have your font set to something other than the normal DPI setting, based on the description of the problem.
