1st and 2nd Parachute Regiments (which are battalion sized) and Yokosuka 1st, 2nd, and 3rd SNLF battalions. Five para battalions.

Was it just sitting someplace or did you air transport it? My paras are all still in the fight as of 6/41 and I use them fairly often. Each unit has made at least one drop and the 1st Para has made four or five. I am always careful never to use enough aircraft to move the entire unit in one drop.

Yup - i've had it happen before ( though it might have been the second instead of the first ) .. but this is probably the infamous "lose the parent fragment - lose the entire unit" bug ... in our case, the decision was made to continue the war !

FYI in the new releases of CHS and RHS these units will be very light - so that if you actually use them you may indeed lose them! I have decided to turn the JAAF (these are AIR FORCE units) "regiments" into a real regiment (called a "brigade") - that can split into two parts. You start with one - and get another in 1944. By 1944 all the JAAF units should be slightly stronger in heavy weapons. You also get 2 glider regiments (which do not brigade up) and a special unit ( an ultra light battalion of two companies - Taiwanese tribesmen - which were used historically ) and an armored unit and a HQ element (that has an AAA capability). We have added some air transport capability, including gliders with tugs.

On the Allied side I have also added a glider (CG-4A with a C-47 tug) - but not yet the units (basically First Air Commando) to use it. A tiny element was available but not used in New Guinea. A larger formation was used extensively in Burma.

Were you flying them somewhere when they vanished ? Even losing 1 airplane ( the one carrying the "parent fragment" ) is apparently sufficient to cause the loss of the entire unit. Fortunately in 2500 PBEM turns, I've only lost 2 units to this phenomena .. one para unit and one HQ ... and I was able to continue .. but others have lost complete divisions ... and both of those losses were early on in my play ... so over 1 year ago, earth time ... I guess I've had a string of good luck ( as he knocks furiously on wood ) for the past roughly 2200 PBEM turns .. 'cause I haven't had the problem recur anytime recently ! But certainly others have, so you are not alone !

I lost my 2nd para regiment about a week ago in one of my games(ver 1.6). I transported them over to canton to help defend against the chinese onslaught and the 1st made it OK, but something I guess went wrong with the 2nd. :( so simply going from friendly base to friendly base can be dangerous!

I didn't have big plans for them, so we decided to go on.
