A question on air missions

Post by kevini100 »

Can some explain what a sweep does? The mannual or what I found in the mannual didn't give a very good description of what a sweep does.

Thank

Your fighter squadron flies to its destination hex and engages enemy CAP in air-to-air combat. If there's an airfield, and the enemy CAP doesn't interfere with them, they strafe it.

Also, if the enemy LRCAPS the source or destination hex of one of your airtrasports, he will attack your transprots. You have to sweep the hex, to engage his fighters, so he won't attack your transports (if you win the sweep vs. LRCAP battle).
