Release screen shots

Post by David Winter »

With the game's release coming up in a couple of weeks I figured it was a good time to post some nice screen captures.

I reall need to update the ones on the main webpage desperately but hopefully these will tide people over for now.

What can be seen in these photos over the ones in previous showings are;

- New lighting system. The stadium and lighting system has been rebuilt over the past months to reflect something a little more realistic. Exterior lights are more natural and interior lights cast more than one shadow from the artificial source.

- While it's hard to tell from a still, new tackle animations were added. Animations are done by hand and generally take a couple of weeks to get to a point where it looks natural.

- Some Changes to the player model Level of detail have been added to the game. The face masks are solid meshes for high detail levels. They can be swapped down to texture masks to accomodate less powerful computers.

- The weather system has been updated. Snow and rain effect uniforms as can be seen in the last screen shot. Players hitting the ground have their uniforms effected. No effect on game play, but I think it looks better.

- Again, can't tell from still images, but some optimizations to the logic processing have been completed over the past while. This has added some slight improvement to performance.

David,

Thank you for the screenshots. Anyway that you could possibly show us a screen capture of the play editor now that the final release canidate has been completed? Also it would be great to see the league or team (win/loss) standings page if one is available.

David,

I know this question has been asked before, but I wanted to ask again, can stadiums be edited with some type of paint program?

Stadiums are 3d models. You need a 3d modelling application to create stadiums. Some of the field work is 2D art and can be edited just like the player uniforms.

Thanks for posting these, David.

We'll be releasing more screenshots for all of you over the next two weeks, covering various parts of the game, don't worry. [8D]

Screenshots look great David! Better than i even expected. Frankly, i would've taken 2d Xs & Os as long as i could draw up a play and run it.

i've been lurking here since the old board went down. Congratulations on making it this far. i look forward to more screenshots and eventually playing this game.

i have to wonder, with all the trouble this took, after its over will you:

a. Go to sleep.
b. Fire up Max FB.
c. Go on a long vacation where there are no computers.
Everytime i call it a business you call it a game. But when i call it a game you call it a business!

I'll probably go scuba diving. As the vast majority of work on this game is done on weekends, and that's when I'd normally go diving.. I think I'll book a trip for my wife and I over to Vancouver Island and hit some of my favourite dive spots...

No.. scuba diving isn't my job.. I am a certified instructor but I've not done that in about a year and a half or so. And it was always sort of a hobby thing for me anyway. Pretty tough to make a living as a dive instructor.

First post in a long time. I tried to stay out of the pointless arguements. Anyway, These screen shots look good. Should be very exciting. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to run the game on this computer, but maybe that will give me the excuse to upgrade to something new. Nice work.

Yes, it's applicable to the low res models as well. It's just an overlay to the uniform textures done on the fly.
