Just wondering about this game. If anyone could let me know what it's like, I would be thankful.

Life as you know it will never be the same, and I mean that in a GOOD way. You will soon be watching war movies/documentaries from a different perspective : "Say, that scene reminds me of SPWaW..."

Actually, if you watch the attack of 30 Corps in "A Bridge Too Far", you definitely get the feel of what SPWaW is like.

Welcome aboard. [:)]

Tough to get into, but once you understand the capabilities of the diffrent units and how they work together, it´s a dream...

Still, I wouldn´t have wanted to tackle it seriously without this website....just going through old threads(especally the sticky´s) has been a huuuuge help.
While interviewing an anonymous US SF soldier, a Reuters News agent asked the soldier what he felt when sniping members of Al Quaeda in Afghanistan.
The soldier shrugged and replied, "Recoil."

We try to take care of each other in this community, which is why we bicker at each other just like a family does. [:D]

Grab it now. It's worth the long download. Though if you have dial up, I'd just say **** it and buy the General's Edition. It comes with a few goodies the free d/l doesn't. I intend to buy it as soon as I get back on my feet after being foobarred last thursday by a drunk in a minivan.

Just a warning, this is a lot more complicated than 99% of the war games you can find out there. It'll take a bit to get used to it, and even then, you'll always find you can get better.

I must agree with others: Your life will never be the same. This game is the "crack" of games. One good thing about my wife being pissed at me for playing for hours and hours is that I have no time for a mistress. There is only one other game that suck time from my life-CIV IV. Two games man. Of the huge number of games out there those are the only two that caused me to have OCD. So SWEET.

Great game! If I were you I would buy the CD, that way you'll always have it. This game has been around for almost ten years now and never gets old. With the different purchacing options you can play any type of pre-WWII, WWII, and up to Korean war you want. This game gives you the options of how you want to play!

That's if you want the Mega-Campaigns with it (four). But you can live without them too. The game is freeware, only Mega-Campaigns cost. So only thing you need to do is to download it (version 8.2 and then upload to 8.3 and if you like, to 8.4 - also 8.403 patch is available but as far as I know it will still change slightly soon - am I right with this last one guys?).

So, huge freeware game with all you need to play a decade or more... [8D]

And did we mention the tons of pre-made scenarios and campaigns that come with the download, as well as a scenario and campaign generator? Very, very cool. [:D]
