I wouldn't know who to root for. My family name rolled around England for several hundred years before coming to America in the 18th century, we can trace our family roots back to clan McNabb, and one of our ancestors came from county Mayo during the potato famine. (He had to flee after killing some "lobsterbacks")

At schools boys always play it in sports lessons. Even at lunch breaks we were always out playing footie!

Same when I was young. Not all that long ago for you, huh Speedy? [:D]

Seriously, I have found it to be almost universally true that playing a sport with some success and/or enjoyment will create a fan of the sport. Few Americans of my age and older played soccer in their youth. Now that is far different, and we are seeing a lot more soccer fans in the US.

no....Nik's problem was that his friend who rented the car couldn't drive a stick so guess who got to drive. As we're ranging through the countryside, friend was like "ooooo look at this....look at that"

Sorry....can't look, busy driving on wrong side of NARROW road, sitting in what is normally the passenger seat, shifting gears with the left hand vs the right, and trying not to lose either side view mirror from clipping the Stone walled "shoulders"

The real reason why SeaLion was cancelled! Imagine the pile up of wrecked German AFV's.....

LOL Nik .. where did you go in the UK .. honestly we have motorways without stone walls [;)].. im guessing stratford? Cotswold ? lots of stone walled B roads round there ..

Yeah driving on the wrong side is very confusing at first .. i drove down from Minneapolis to indianapolis (via Chicago .. now thats BAD traffic ).. ! I'd have liked stone walls .. the view was so boring .. oooh look a red painted barn ? and a wheat field .. and .. thats about it ! [:D]

Good to see the game getting a few fans outside of the usual countries .. so much better than football (soccer) ..

no violence ( off the field )

no segregating fans

families welcomed

utterly safe

Lots of beer ! :)

Lets see....London, Portsmouth, Wales (Portmerian) Yes, not every road had stone walled shoulders, there i just had to avoid tree branches and onrushing vehicles coming in the opposite direction at a high rate of speed.

Friend: "here comes another"

me: "Were gonna CLIP"

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepp!

Friend: "wow....i lost some shirt sleeve on that last one....here comes another....boy he's booking!"

me "another round of Chicken thus starts"

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!!

friend "where you'd get the tree branch and leaves?"

and all 3 share one very important trait in common.

Their roads are too *(^&* narrow.

[:D]

Only if you drive a tank sized SUV .. Or your a bad driver [;)]
Yeah, but if you drive and SUV AND are a bad driver everything is just fine, it's the other poor SOB that's in trouble and personally I like round-a-bouts.

The fastest way to lose brain cells;

1. Playing Rugby, of course some would say anyone who plays doesn't have any.

2. Drinking.

People who drink & play rugby start having delsions about having their own country.[8|]

There's nothing wrong with the American game of Football that shooting all the referees won't fix.

Your Alien spacecraft isn't hovering near Seattle is it?[:D][:D]

Actually I watched till half time and as it wasn't the most exciting game I've seen and it was 1am over here I went to bed. I did think the Hawks had been a little bit hard done by and seeing a non TD given as one - minutes after an outrageous pass - I hoped (as a neutral) that the Seahawks would have won when I woke up - alas no.

Actually why ??? do we drive on the left ... most countries do drive on the right .. except italy and greece where both sides are fair game ( i've driven in both ! )

Well...for what concerns Italy it really depends where you are driving!

The more you move southwards, the more you will suffer from road-anarchy. I myself refuse to take the car if i have to pass the Rubicon[:D]
