Hi Rob.
I know things look grim at the moment but I think you need to pull out what you can by sub-whereever you can. Also Allies are always on the back foot early on and the best stategy is to do a "fighting retreat" AND don`t expose your CV`s to any risk at all AND JUST WAIT.
Personally I`d try to hold Port Morseby. At least PH wasn`t too bad. PS are you doing 2 day turns?
Anyway good luck-things will stabilise out

hello there stranger
PH was fine really .. quite happy all things considered
It's now 31 DEC 1942
Pretty quiet past few days .. subs have been active and got a couple more transports. Japs send a DD force to my airbase in NW borneo wher i had 4 Pt's as an anti invasion force. Oscars strafed and sank 1 .. DD+PT captains avoided each other for 3 days. however martins got one hit on a jap DD that went back to kuching and hit a newly placed VH2 mine
Only BIG decisions is evacuate Naga ..
Main reason was he was hinting at a big OP coming soon .. maybe invading the narrows between naga and manilla . this would crucify my defence of the area. Also the hex between naga and manilla is wooded so quite defensible. the forces that held (barely) at nage are almost doubled by the troops witing behind .. so im not pulling back to manilla quite yet [;)].. ALSO decided to evac san marc and bataan .. im spred too thin here and easily pinned .. so concetrations at CLarke and SW of manilla.
British pull back to mandalay almost complete. I'll have small garisons along the river line in case of enveloping moves. and the chinese trudge slowly to Ledo. 1st dakota unit now in dacca running supply into mandalay. There seems to be a real lack of supply in india/burma right now max is 6k at calcutta even with an HQ there. Also the tanks arrived at anasol and its building nicely . size 4 af so far.
One big change is the much smaller airbases at chandpur and dacca .. makes imphal and kohima a lot more important.
ALSO .. NIK ?? did you really mean to stop all allied bomber production till jan 42 ? no B26/25 A20 no mediums at all ! ok tiny Lb30 ~(5) and small B17 ( 10 ?? ) is fine but i need more mediums to take the strain ..
Supply in java is allowing my aussie hudsons to upgrade to beauforts .. much better. but i need more supply in derby to upgrade the wirrys to hurries .. only got 6k there now. hopefully more troops will pull more supply and im running regular fuel and supply runs from the DEI to here too. ( japan seems to have withdrawn her sub forces from the DEI so sinlge AK's are doing wonders )
I have also started sending out convoys from america .. fingers crossed KB has gone .. she's not been sighted in ages. and i now operate a line of PBY from PH-Palmyra-canton-paga-suva.
I'll do a killed ship list for the 1st Jan .. it will be interesting to see jap AP losses .

erm....I didn't stop medium Allied bomber production. LB-30 production was minimized since that type was only built in small numbers and then phased out. B-17 of course was long ago minimized to account for it's trickle rate into the Pacific. Did push B-24 production to november 42 per Salacker. Didn't touch medium bomber start times though Allied production was scrubbed in terms of monthly rate.

Hey Rob...good strategy using the P40's out of Manila to beat up on some transports and gather experience
however, pertaining to your remark...
Nik took out the supply areas in burma (except Ragoon) so don't expect Mandalay to be the fortress it usually can become for the allies...also remeber to keep Mytikina (sp?) garrisoned as a para drop there can be a real problem. Also what are your plans with the SEAC chinese troops...sending them to Burma? or sending them to the front lines in China?
Otherwise looks like you are doing well against such an experienced oppenent
however, pertaining to your remark...
There seems to be a real lack of supply in india/burma right now

RE: Rob vs. 2ndACR .. Divine intervention needed
Thnank you KD for the kind words ..
India i know was less of a supply powerhouse, i think ive made too many aussis bound supply convoys at the expense of India ( never really gave it much thought at the time as INDIA running low on supply wasn't even on the radar [;)]).. So for the time being only fuel will be sent to our aussie cousins. Plentsy of supply is already passing sumatra though and will be diverted later to Derby. I am also looting all the oil and fuel i can from the DEI ( there is tons). Using AK's at tjilajp to empty the place for aussie homeland use.
I like using the manilla P40's on naval attack 0% CAP .. can almost guarantee they wont run into LR cap as japan cant cover everything and cap scares off unescorted targetting. took 3 weeks for them to hit anything mind you .. they have had several days off for mad morale or fatigue ( if flying 4-5 hexes). and even a small hole in an AP now is good news. ( lots of 70+ pilots here now)
Myth .. only has the original BF .. humm might fly in some indians just to be safe ,... good idea.
The chinese are heading to ledo ( all of them ) 2 prepping for ledo 2-3 myth rest mandalay .. also sent along an HQ ( chaged to SE asia) seems to help a bit. once in mandalay i'll pull them out 1 by 1 using air . let them rest in calcutta then fly them back. air transport is critical in burma imo.
Overall its going to plan .. apart from malaysia [:'(].. well thats the usual hold johore baru as long as possible .. singers is producing supply and has used 1/2 the 6000 oil i sent in. also 30k+ mare has been delivered to malacca/johore/singapore over the past weeks. After i scared off his subs quite a few aks made the pakambang-singapore run .. have 2 more heading inbound as we speak ( LR cap works wonders ! .. far more useful than using buffs as escorts or normal CAP . [;)]) .. same holds true for the brit wirraways too.
I still hold amboina so transports can happily sail in the south DEI .. but i'd love some more long range fighter groups .. im actually beginning to appreciate the buffalo at long last .[;)]
Thanks for taking the time to post .. and read

Nice amounts of IJN ships sunk Rob [:D]
You said that 1/2 of Oil is consumed at Singapore but what kind of supply levels you got? Hopefully enough to make a significant stand there! [:D]
It seems not much happening at China. Well. again be prepared for anything since I do think your opponent will start major offensives here soon enough.

What altitude are you flying the naval attack P-40s at?
On the subject of Singapore & supplies, it seems that HI still produces despite a siege. In my AAR game, I noticed supply levels at Singapore going up 2 turns ago. Wondering if I was deluding myself, I took careful note of the oil supply there & sure enough it's going down.
Good luck!

Its important to ensure that Singers is not reinforced with supply or resource. helps with the siege. I once slipped in 65,000 supply points into the base right under the nose of the JAAF. Helped make the base all but impregnible. (LCU's repaired...forts went up to 9.....tea was served)

Damn sneaky Jap spies ! .. and they had the gall to attack neutral shipping off the peruvian coast too. 3 neutral fishing boats were reported destroyed. but the doughty crews used thier nets to catch fish of a differant sort and saved many ships.
Well thats the official line ..
Unoficially a merchant convoy bound for aukland was hit by what i suspect to be 2-3 CV's on the east side of the map. well out of 'normal' shipping lanes.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/09/42
Quiet few days, KB hit a few more transports but 2/3's are ok and heading to aukland via odd routes.
the CL Adelaide who has been cruising the Solomons for jap shipping picked some rabaul survivors from the beach and is almost back in townsville. Sub mineyalers from america also mined shortlands and Lae. the fleet boats will pick up more rabaul refugees while the S-boats need to get to townsville.
Got an AS to townsville just in time today too. so that plan worked ( she'd sailed alone from the US coast on day 1)
