Can Typhoons cause ship damage?

On 2/1/23 every autoconvoy ship docked in Tokyo suffered damage; some 50+ ships received 8-13 points of damage. The warships docked in the port were untouched.

Maybe it was the Tokyo earthquake...

That's an upgrade. No earthquakes or typhoons in game. The damage represents the time it takes to perform whatever the upgrade entails (mostly bolting on new guns).
We are all dreams of the Giant Space Butterfly.

IIRC weather influence the chance to suffering operational damage... So in thunderstorms ships at sea will get a couple more point of sys damage.
