German secret weapons
It would be rather nice if this aspect was utilized more. i.e the germans can research them ( me 262, 263, Julia' Natter, Do 335, He 162, He178 etc) and the alies can restrict the chances of them comming online by bombing the facilities.

you can build/reseach most of those planes now ?
(I like the idea of the natter, but with in the game it don't really work (unless we try to tie it into a flak system idea, instead of a flying unit, the ME 163 doesn't really work either, because of the game system)
you don't really want the He 178 do you ?
(maybe the He 280 ?)

Well it was the fact the the Germans had a whole host of designs that never got off the ground before the war ended. It would be nice to see a few more of em.
The ability to recon and try and find and then bomb 'secret' research/manufacturing sites might be fun too.
The Natter would be cool with the pilot bailing out after his mission!!
The He178 cos it looked like a post war jet (not bad for 1939)!!

okay I see what you mean now
LOL could be interesting, get some of the ideas, but then randomize what the stats would be once it was finished, spend the time and effort to get the TA-183 workable and it may turn out to be a wonderweapon, or it may turn out to be a dog
(ahh but then you would have the players who would would save and replay trying to get a better random result, of course, could set up a random seed number at the start of each game, that would be the background for the random rolls)
may be a good idea, but think it would really be more a down the road add on, then something we could work into the first verison of the game
over all I like it

Funny, if you are a plane buff, you are sure of heard the stories, arguements about if many of the Allied or SU planes were really there own designs after the war, about how most of them were basicly rip off of projects the GE were already working on
(the F86 for one, later, the B2 and so on)
but I was looking around seen this pic, LOL now tell me what that is, if you wern't looking to close

boys... the toy we need is the waterfall... the grandpa of the nike-hercules honestly i wouldn´t be surprised if the rumors are true
But i like the idea of "research without knowing what happen" with these planes...
only the go229 and the do335 should be in with fixed values...
the "wunderweapon-toys" could be in... but you have a BIG chance they do not work... like the Ta183... so you have to research it (long time) but the chance of being in the game (in numbers) is low. Also the stats could be "doésn´t work", to "Meteor-style plane (sorry guys, couldn´t resist) to "P80-killer for a trainee"...
but the same in this what-if for the p80... let it in this game, also with huge differences about the efficency... sometimes better, sometimes worse
The allied player should also be able to decide what plane he wants to research (say you give em 3 Spits, 3 Mustangs and 4 P47er... and he has to decide each one plane that is in the game plus the regular stuff. And you also do not know how good they are... sometimes better and sometimes worser... so that they are not an improvement.
This could help generally to improve the fow... same with the stats...of historical planes.. i mean - we got some numbers.
These should vary slightly for range and speed and durability and manouverability... +/- 5%... in the fow-scenario (you do not see these different numbers... only after a long time - say 100 days of combat use.. you see the real numbers. Don't tickle yourself with some moralist crap thinking we have some sort of obligation to help these people. We're there for our self-interest, and anything we do to be 'nice' should be considered a courtesy dweebespit

Love the idea of researching new weapons and not able to tell if its a war winner or a dud resource drain. This is all long campaign stuff and with all these games (BOB. BTR( 12'o Clock high) UV, Witp) it's only the long campaigns I have wanted and played)
Hitler ditched a lot of early reseach projects for being too defensive. As the player boss it should be up to the player if he/she wants to be defensive. Just refighting the air war as Hitler is too restricting.

it is fall of 43 when the game starts, anything being built or researched, is defensive
(hmmmm, maybe have the 262 be a ground attack plane verison and a fighter verison, so while the GE can build say 1400 like in real life, not 1400 go to the fighter units, pool)
we are trying to add, more to the production side of the game, where say, not everything being made, is something you want or will help you, and as time goes by, those slots become usable to the player as they want

These are just some thoughts and musings for later on in the line.
If these games are still being played now ( and they are - I play BTR every odd day, I can leave it to play a plotted day's raids and go off and do "my job" come "home" ( I Work from home) and " bugger that sodding chem fac is still under cloud cover!!!!Grrr[:D]) Then it will be a long time project.
Mind you "I come back home quite a bit"[:D][8D]

the problem with all these secret projects is that Germany did not have the human (ie scientists) and monetary resources to furthur all these 'great projects'.

Well for not having this or that, they did pretty good, in a lot of areas they were way ahead of the Allies, it is more the fact that they couldn't match the Allies in mass production that ruined them, not there design teams
(much as everyone laffs and jokes about the V1 as a weapon, the US grabbed as many as they could get, brought them home and tested and rebuilt them for use in the Pacific, the V2 is still in use today (much improved, but still pretty much the same model)
(some of the later model 88/17's blow anything the Allies were using as bombers away, if the war has started in 44 as the Generals planned, it could of been very interesting)

Us here would all be called Fritz, Kurt, Helga............etc for a start!
Actually I quite like the idea of being called Helga, but that is not for this forum[:D][:D][;)]

Again..another idea for way on down along the long, long line of development ( I hope) - spent far too many Hours playing BTR today
Research points
The german player is allocated research points each week in a long campaign game that can be spent on various new projects. I.e More Planes (boring - they just get shot down[:D]), better AA, Foo fighters[8D], hollowing out the Earth[X(] - some of these points can be deducted by High command for the real crazy stuff!! Flying Saucers[8|]
With the investment of enough points say 50 X replacement Me-109 = 1 point on the new AA 1050lb guided missile( Enzian) that costs 30 points to research and another 30 before you see any in 1944.
Terrible drain on resources but taking out 10 close formation Bombers with one guided missile - [:D]
