Hi all,

Kiska was visited again by my friends. No aircraft were reported destoyed on the ground today though. I suspect Faber may have withdrawn them.

My Attu supply convoy is 4/5 days out.

My airfore in the region also paid a visit to Kiska. CV and land based TBF's joined forces in bombing the enemy ground troops. Over 200 enemy men were reported killed from SNLF units.........

Myitkyina reeceived the usual drubbing from both Imphal and Dimapur.

I figured it was time for a round up of the various areas. Here's Burma today. The highlighted units are the ones 60 miles SE from Kohima marching towards Mandalay. There are a further 1 x UK and 1 x Indian Division + 1 x Indian Tnk Bde also en route.

2 days of updates due to the calm before the next storm........

Mainly bombing by me against Myitkyina and shelling against Kiska which is like the moon.

Faber is bombing in China which is now a stalemate on the ground.

Some undersea war stuff on the 31st:

1. SS Gunnel patrolling off Macassar found a Japan bound convoy and hit AK Yamamiya Maru with a Mk XIV fish.

2. SS I-34 hit TK Hugoton which is part of the Attu supply convoy 120 miles north of Adak Island. 3 x Long Lance hit home and blew the laden tanker apart.

DD Buchanan found the g*t and sank thr attacker........

Hi all,

The undersea war continues........

1. SS Grenadier patrolling 120 miles south of Hokkaido surfaced twice during the day to sink both AK Saishu Maru and AK Nishi Maru. Both were reported moving away from the Japanese mainland.......

2. SS I-154 was reported sunk by SBD's off Kiska today. A section of SBD's found her a few miles from Kiska and strafed her and bombed her. Both crew reported seeing the sub on fire and sniking rapidly by the bow...........

3. SS Grunion moving towards the Palembang area encountered an enemy convoy west of Borneo. She reported hitting TK Itukusima Maru with 2 x torpedo's.......

4. Unfortunately SS Sturgeon encountered this same convoy a few hours earlier and was reported sunk by PC CH3..........

A sweep of P38's over Mandalay netted 32 enemy Tojo's, Tony's and Zero's for the loss of 12 P38's..............

I really think Faber has totally moved out from the northern region. There are NO sightings of enemy ships at Paramushiro, no FP's being detecetd by my CAP and no enemy flights from Kiska. It's just as well my veteran crews are moving to America and then Midway soon............

China - His first air attack towards Chungking came from Kweiyang today. Over 70 fighters were on a sweep mission. Luckily all of my planes were set to bomb his troops! Accordingly tomororw i've ordered the fighters on training missions whilst the SB2's try to bomb Kweiyang. Hopefully he won't be home!

I'm feeling a bit happier on the ground now. I can't see Chungking falling. Supplies continue to rise. Almost 20,000 now. ALmost level 9 forts.

Kunming is looking better too! Supplies are growing! Are upto 5,000 now.

How are you supplying Chungking? I am in a similer situation in China against Faber. I have retreated most of my units to Chungking, Kunming and a third city I can't remember the name of. I am unable to supply all of the troops even with flying the Hunp. I can only fly two of my six transport squadrons at a time due to moral problems. How are you able to get in enough supplies to actualy have the stock piles grow?

Hi Bait Boy -

I have 4 x Dakota squadrons in Ledo which fly in supply continuosly to Kunming. Kunnming is the weakest link for me. Faber has 1/2 bombed the HI and resources there. Despite this the supply generally increases by upto 200 points a day.

Chungking supplies itself. I assume supplies from Chengtu also help here. Chungking incrases by upto 300 points of supply a day.

Keep in mind I do NOT attack or bombard at all with my LCU's. I am building fortifications everywhere though (Level 5 at Kunming, Level 8 at Chungking). Faber bombs the airfields of both Kunming and Chungking whenever he can and I bomb his troop concentration NORTH of Chungking when I can (see screenie below).

Today was a day of frantic undersea action all within the enemy defensive zone.

SS Grouper patrolling near Okinawa attacked a PG TF but missed.

SS Wahoo patrolling north of the Mariana's surfaced and attack AK Cuba maru hitting her with a torpedo and several 4" shells.........

SS Guardfish hit AO Naruto north of Okinawa with a torpedo (she was empty, heading west).

SS Grunion hit the damaged TK that she hit yesterday (Itukusima Maru) with another torpedo leaving her heavily damaged.

SS Albacore patrolling inbetween the Mariana's and Truk found a small convoy and put a fish into AK India Maru leaving her heavily listing.

SS Sturgeon lives! She sent off a message yesterday saying she had been bit by DC's and would sink. Today however she sent a followup message saying flooding had been brought under control and that she was returning to Darwin [:)]

Today's region is China. You can clearly see the concentration of forces - Kunming, Chungking and 120 miles north of Chungking.

Also note the 3 units moving up the trail from Hanoi towards Yunan. I have despatched 3 Corps from the Chungking area to fortify Yunan

A quieter day all round with little of note occuring other than the fact that AK Cuba Maru and TK Itukusima Maru were confirmed sunk today.

I've been thinking about Corsairs - I don't want to put them on CV's en masse since that would not be historical. They were used on some CV's in 44 though right?

At present i'm thinking of upgrading my Marine F4F's to Corsairs and leaving the Navy one's to Hellcats. What do you all think?

The 4th was fairly quiet but the 5th was a little more hectic.

The usual bombardments by my 7 x BB's against Kiska. The place is a wreck now. Recon indictaes that both the port and airfield are totally unusable.

My Attu supply convoy should have finished unloading in 2 days. At that point it will move back to the US with my 3 CV TF's and 2 x BB TF's.

P38's out of Ledo swept Mandalay again and netted 30 enemies (Tony/Tojo/A6M3a) against 5 friendlys [:)]

An I-boat hit the AK Washingtonian today with a torp. She is heavily damaged, on fire and listing. She was part of an empty transport TF heading to Attu to take on board LCU's to head back to the US.

SS Albacore had fun with AK Batopaha Maru north of Pagan. She initially let loose the 4 rear tubes which all missed! The AK spotted the torpdeo trails though and attempted to move away at flank speed. Accordingly the sub skipper ordered the crew to surface and prepare to duel with the git.

This baby had teeth though and 5 x 3" rounds hit my sub in return my sub hit the AK with 8 shells and a torpedo.

Out of torpedo's she is returning to PH for repair. SS Steelhead left Midway today to replace her on station.

Supply is starting to fall.

A good day for the Allies.

My subs were very active:

1. SS Sunfish east of Batan Island hit AK Hokutai Maru with a torpedo. An hour later she hit AK Shanghai Maru with a torpedo which left the ship heavily damaged and listing.

2, SS Spearfish patrolling near Brunei fired 4 torpedo's at TK San Clemente all of which missed[:-]

3. SS Grouper NW of Okinawa hit an empty troop transport (Ceylon Maru) with a fish.

4. An hour later SS Guardfish patrolling 10 miles east of Grouper found the same convoy and hit AP Daigen Maru with a torpedo leaving her heavily damaged.

Faber obliged and sent over Sallies with Tojo's/Tony's for company. A vicious air battle ensued with the superior Spits performing well. However, these IJA jockeys were no mugs and performed well also:

SS Sunfish had a laugh today. Patrolling 180 miles ESE of Batan Island she attacked 3 separate freighters. 2 of which were hit by a single torpedo (AK Okitu Maru and AK Norfolk Maru). The 3rd one (AK Olympia Maru) was also hit....by duds......[:-]

Sunfish, out of torpedo's is returning to Darwin for replenishment. SS Whale left Darwin today to replace her on station.

Attu - Within 2 days all supplies will be ashore and the men of the Infantry Division + Engineer Regiment will be aboard their transports. The fleet will then leave bound for USA.

SS Scamp patrolling south of Okinawa heavily damaged AK Junpo Maru with a torpedo.

SS Trusty was guarding the approaches to Bankha and Medan and found the lone TK Akebono Maru. She surfaced and hit the thing with at least 2 torpedo's and several gun hits. The Tanker clearly got a radio message off though since 30 minutes later a Sally flew overhead and dropped a bomb nearby the front torpedo tubes causing minor flooding and making the tubes inoperable. Trusty is tor return to Columbo for repairs. Hopefully the enemy tanker will sink.

Hi all,

China - Supplies rose by 400 in Chungking and by 200 in Kunming [8D]

He still bombed the snot out of the airfield at Kunming though. As such I have moved in my Ledo based P38 FG. Should be a nice surprise for him if he attacks tomorrow [8D]

My ultimate aim is to have 4 x Spit squadrons at both Kunming and Chungking. I have 4 at Chungking already, 2 in Chengtu and 2 more forming up in Ledo. Within a week Kunming should have it's Spit allocation too. This should stop him having a 'free ride' in China!

I still have Spit's in Burma for base cover along with P40's so no major problems there.

1. SS Nautilus patrolling west of Tori Shima hit AK Bengal Maru with a torpedo on the port bow. The impact left the ship on fire but astill moving at a fair speed.

SS Guardfish and SS Grouper both patrolling north of Okinawa were both reported to have been bit by a DC and bomb (respectively). Luckily these reports were false [:)]

Tomorow all fleet units leave Attu to head back to the USA for R & R. I am unsure whether to wait for 4/43 upgrades or to order the Wake invasion mid-Marchish. Thoughts?

The usual bombing by me in China at his troops NE of Chungking and on Myitkyina's airfields and support troops. I feel he may be weakening here. Over the past 2 weeks his troops levels and guns have been falling. Not by a lot but before they were not falling at all! Maybe lack of supply.

SS Balao got into action today! The improved Gato class sub patrolling near Etoforo Jima, Lower Kuriles stumbled upon a small TK class ship. She surfaced and placed a well aimed 5" round into the bridge before despatching the target beneath the waves with 2 Torpedo's...........confirmed as TK Kyoie Maru sunk...........
