Somewhere is the Pacific:
A lone submarine is on patrol. Cmdr Fish is looking thru the periscope. He sights a large task force of over a dozen ships, with a few carriers and escorts. Suddenly two of the escorts broke off from the task force. Cmdr Fish shouted. "Dive! Dive!" He had to get a message off to Penguin central.

Revenge

Post by scott64 »

Ok, the results are in [X(][X(][X(][X(] Scratch two flatops. [X(] Lexington and Enterprise were sunk near Johnston Island. Repluse and POW are not expected to survive. Enemy landings are everywhere. No, repeat no, landing near Rabaul and around Northeastern OZ and Borneo. We are expecting KB to take a shot at Pearl. In a defensive measure I have moved all major ships out to a safe distance. [:-][:-] One good point is that Saratoga was not harmed in making this turn possible [:'(].

I haven't confimed if this is a shared AAR or Allied only.....so no strategy as of yet.........The Japs have gone for ships......and done very well.... they sought out and caught the US carriers.....and caught most of the Dutch cruiser in port.....bombarding them to oblivion......POW, dead....Repulse, soon to be dead.....and an early move for Palambang.....I have no ships to stop them.......Maps will follow...once we confirm AAR status.....

Rumor has it that enemy agents tampered with fabertong's fish vindaloo, causing him to emit a loud YELL last week. This deadly delicacy may have impaired his judgement, and definitely did not inspire the troops...

OK so the Dutch and Brits have been hit pretty hard...........I have no navy to speak of.....2 Dutch CLs and a handful of DDs survived the first two turns.....Repulse is limping north but gaining more and more float damage....will have to stop at Kuala Lumpor(sp).......POWs 98 sys dam...still at Singapore........speed 1 effectively dead.........

THE PLAN......It's been awhile since I've played as Allies so please forgive the rusty'ness.....

In a nutshell

Burma delay......delay delay...till the chinese can get to Myitk......
Malaya...........the move on Mersing may be a mistake......I never go for Mersing....too close to TBS..........I'll evac the North and Sacrafice the south.......
DEI ....gather the little children....if you can combine most of the dutch combat troops on Java...it can be a tough nut to crack......
Derby in North Oz is my fallback for waifs and strays...will build it up for survivors......

I've lost almost all of my navy...destroyed in port...but my airgroups are intact....there are no carrier groups in the DEI so I can try to restructure with little interference.........will post Ops as they develop..... map

Dec 9th Update
Landings, landings, more landings, and still more landings. [:'(] Everywhere. [X(] We lost the following bases: Laoag, Jessleton, Kuching, and Kendari. [:(] PT boats stood up well near manila. Sunk one PC. Looks like the Jap carriers have split up and are chasing my fleeing surface ships on their eay to the West Coast. I hope to out run, they are going full speed. Units are embarging to Lunga from Brisbane, a ENG unit. It will be at least a few weeks or even a month until units will be leaving for OZ.

Battle of the day:

Day Air attack on TF at 34,63

Allied aircraft
T.IVa x 4

No Allied losses

Japanese Ships
DD Natsugumo, Torpedo hits 3, on fire, heavy damage

Aircraft Attacking:
4 x T.IVa launching torpedoes at 200 feet

She will sink at the end of the day. [:-]

In PI I have been doing a strategic withdrawl from overrun bases are one that will be overrun very soon, but leaving behind ENG units. All subs are trying to stay afloat near Manila. The B17 group has been transfered out of PI to OZ for training.

David will undate his area soon.

Dec. 9th.......
Not a good day at the office.......all my Swordfish and Vildebeests....attacked capital ships rather than defenseless transports.......no ships hit .......so bloody Mersing......isn't as bloody as it should be and I fear the allies will get away with it......

Lots of my AKs and APs are sneaking out...due to no carrier presence and also the allies seem to have sent so many combat groups in transports...that they as of yet haven't brought any base forces........so we have a bit of room to sneak out vulnerable ships.......

My Dutch bombers on Borneo are Bombing the oilfields of Miri and Brunei......good mission for inexperienced pilots....and D*mn annoying for the Japanese.........

Dutch Navel BF on south Sumatra to Batavia.....along with one of the combat units at Pedang........

Repulse docks at Kualu L. ....too much float damage....and with Jap. airpower and a large SAG in the area......we can wave goodbye to her......

Palambang will fall in the next day or so..........

Kendari has fallen....will bomb the resources this turn...just out of spite.........

Japs attacked Changsha......stopped, but not enough enemy losses to allow for a counter attack.......

AVG A Wuchow........flying LRCAP over HK for the next turn or two...
AVG B Changsha........trying to kill a few Nate's.........
AVG C Kuala L. .........trying to protect Repulse.......lost cause.......

Lodestar's flying Chinese troops to Mytk........

Will rest my TBS this turn...let some of the big ships leave then hope to hit a few transports.....fingers crossed..........
