Well things didn't go quite to plan ....Speedy moved north of Attu and within 4 hexes.......also Nagumo's blood was up and despite no react order he went a hex closer.......
The result......Nagumo gets socked in by weather.........his zeros being the most experienced was to provide most of the escorts for air attack..........leaving.....
The other 4 carriers launch an attack.....with not much in the way of escort......loses below.....
The US carriers don't strike......my uber CAP of 150+ Zeros......goes unused........
All forces retreated at full speed to Paramishiro.......another defeat.......no ship lost but look at the aircraft and pilots.....

D@@n! My sympathies on a good plan coming undone. The weather indeed proved to be a factor, and the gods of war apparently favor the Americans.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

As I thought ....Speedy moved in for the kill today .......but all my ships made it safely back to Paramashiro.........how far west will he come........will he raid Paramashiro....it must be tempting after the airlosses I've suffered?

Well, January 1943 is over.....and things are a bit quieter.......apart from two 3BB bombardment TFs hitting Kiska on a daily basis.....Oh, and the massive air-raids on Kiska on a daily basis......

All of KB is returning to HI for refit/upgrades.....so the north is on its' own......
Two more construction Bt.....are headed north to assist in the build up of the second defensive line....and Shikka.....
China looks to be stalemated........
While Speedy will take Kiska in the next month.....(all troops on Kiska are effectively trapped)......I need to prep for his spring offensive........train and refit for Feb, and March......and maybe find a little mischief Op. that I can play with........

I feel for you. Kiska is doomed (it reminds me of me on Wake in our game, lots of troops but no supplies), however you do have the advantage in that his next (probable) move is to attack your home islands where you can rely on land based aircraft for defense while he has to rely on heavy bombers (probably with only light escorts) or carriers (which are vulnerable to a lucky hit). I haven't seen any documentation for this, but I think that pilots shot down over a friendly air base are more likely to survive, so you shouldn't loose quite as many experienced pilots if you fight a conservative defensive battle. Also, with so many ships in the north, he must be weak in the south. . .

<edit> No, I haven't read his AAR yet.

Mark.........you're right......now I need to refit my battle fleet and see wht I can do away from the HI to cause Speedy to hesitate.......Kiska is doomed.......I have subs on the way to try and salvage a few LCUs....my air transport can't get in due to LRCAP and 100% runway damage........my biggest problem is the number of pilots I've lost in the last month........I need three months.....but by then Corsairs< Lightnings........etc..........

Corsairs are the problem. Lightnings can be dealt with.

Did you start in 42 or did you guys just not AAR for a while?

5th feb 1943.........
Not a good day for flightless birds...
Lost 3 DDs trying to run supply into Kiska...and pick up on the way out 3BBs + escort ended that.......
Speedy's subs sank 3 more AKs.......
Build and train....build and train...that's the mantra.....
Kiska short of supply.....when will he go in.......I can't stop him.

the question is: why would he go in? You can't do anything with the place. Why would he need to take it? Does he really need the airfield that badly? Or could he not just simply hit you with his base on Attu?

It's a good point Boss.........he may not go in....but with both Attu and Kiska he can knock out all my airfields with ease......would I take it........I think so.........if he leaves it, through sub transport I can get out quite a few troops given two or three months..........but he could leave it to wither on the vine.......

I have just discovered that you have a major intelligence leak. Allied spies have placed a camera inside your Heat Quarters!
