Question on CD guns vs. Ships

What is the most common type of armor hits inflicted by CD guns. I am assuming Belt armor, but I would imagine Deck Armor and Tower Armor could also be hit.

In my Terrible Swift Sword game the evil Japs are landing on Hainan Island. The Chinese defenders have 15pdr Krupps which have an anti-armor penetration of 50. These will bounce off battleships, but could penetrate the deck armor on some cruisers - but not the belt armor.
