RE: The Front

Post by Ike99 »

One possible reason that PM is left alone could be that in 2 previous games PM was taken at high cost by the IJA but the IJA units later either get trapped or PM falls back to allies anyway. It may not be worth the jap blood.

People say the Japanese must take Port Moresby to have a chance to win or draw. I want to prove them wrong.

As the points stand now...

Japan-7,551
Allies-3,694

For Bigred to achieve his victory he would need to have...

9,438 points.

A difference of...

5,744 points added to his side with my points staying exactly the same.

That is very much to ask for in my style of play presented. [:)]

A new month, and the clock will soon start ticking for Bigred.

giving a free base to launch a counter-attack is high risk....  I wish you had decided to try this approach in out game!!!!!  [;)]

I wouldn´t consider Port Moresby a free base. Any airforce he puts there I can destroy on the ground. Ask bigbabba about it.

[;)]

He needs two, possibly three airfields to really get moving.

I believe he is correct about the investment of IJA. I can think of better places to put 30,000 Japanese. Let him get his supply lines stretched out a little farther. Make him work.

Ike has a huge advantage playing a defensive game.  No losses, all air and land units full strenght.  Any hex I decide to attack will take extra time because of the full strenght units..   This will give him time to attrite my naval units.

I believe I posed the same problem for Ike early and still now.  He was aware that to take a plunge across "the line" would have exposed his naval lift to extraordinary damage.   I am still waiting with interior lines of supply and mutually supported bases covered by air and surface units.  The allied bases are also mined up with a division or more on every base, fortx9 on all.

I would expect the japs to have 250000 supply points and 4000 mines on lunga. Talk about a nut cracker.

ike, you was able to damage PM only because of the night carrier attacks...but thats a old story.[:D] at day, our air loses were equal.

in a next game, i would exchange my carriers for your KB so this night attacks come to a end. with regular day attacks from lae and rabaul, you can not close PM and you suffer big OP loses over time.

and when you go for a bombardement run, the allied need to place some mines, subs and surface elements between you and PM to sink the ships or to slow them and let the bombers from PM do the rest.

RE: The 2nd line

It seems Ike is deliberately not expanding his forward bases.  To me the logic is why build them up if I will lose them anyway.  From a line shortland across to lea then wewak and between and behind Ike is expanding.  Lunga is still a 2/2.  Irua and Nevea are unoccuppied, but this may change soon as a large barge fleet is sitting on Nevea.  Such a tempting target.

Your missing a ship.
