There is also a set of RN camo stuff in the works from unofficial sources [:D]

Camo - oh yes, the paint job that is intended to make things hard to see. And applied to the little tiny ship icons that are already hard for my poor old eyes to see.

Camo No! See Si!

And all of us old timers say "AMEN!" Just please make sure that none of the camo looks like the Gloire.

Is there any chance of seeing some of the different refit options for the flush deck DDs please, or the RN D-Class light cruisers with their differing refit options?  As I remember it both of these types have variable refits available to them.

As I remember there are some options for the flush deckers.  Some of them include conversion to LRE types (similar to those in the Atlantic), DMS, DM, AVD, APD and a 'normal' refit.  The RN D class cruisers can either be upgraded normally or converted to AA cruisers.  I may be wrong on some of the options for the flush deckers, but I'm sure an official source will point out if I am [:)]

Pretty sure only HMS Delhi was rebuilt as an AA cruiser in US yards. Not convinced this is a reason to allow all D class to convert as such.

Not convinced it's not, Ron. There's several things like that in the OOB. Things that really were done but did not historically serve in the pacific.

The long range 4-stacker conversions, for instance. Used only in the Atlantic but were really done and could have been done to ships in the Pacific.

Sure, one can go either way I suppose. Especially with such numerous conversions like the 4 stackers. This sort of opens up a Pandora's box I'd imagine. If one can convert all D class to Delhi's, one can argue that the player might also be able to control the various other conversions such as Cleveland CL/Independence CVL, MC 2 Tanker/Sangamon CVE, Sumner DD/RH Smith DM, Benson DD/Ellyson DMS, maybe even Baltimore CA/Saipan CVL as the Saipans hulls were based on the Baltimore design.

And this just some of the USN conversions. The Japanese possibilities are numerous as well. Can you list which conversions are now possible, Don? This is pretty interesting.

Not me Ron. That's a long list and I'm rather occupied at the moment. Some are in stock, for the test there's the editor.

Can’t do a full list till release, but generally – only a few Allied warships get to convert, mostly Clemson/Wickes and they go to APD, AVD, DM, DMS that sort of stuff. Most conversions are between/among auxiliary types and only like-to-like (C2 to C2, C2-S to C2-S). Bird/Lapwing can play between AM and AVP, some late war sub classes can convert to gunboat types, ACMs and YMSs are convertible, stuff like that. Same for Japan, like-to-like only.

As for D Class, there is a Delhi in the class db, but since it never got to Pac, no ship points to it. Just your everyday, run-of-the-mill D types; Danae, Dragon, Durban, Dauntless. All get withdrawn eventually.

We tried to keep things as real as possible, while still maintaining flexibility, in the release version. However, there are lots of nifty classes in the database that modders “can” access easily, if someone wants more “what if”.

This particular iteration of the four-stacker has intrigued me ever since I saw it in a 40 year old book, almost 40 years ago. Those old timers were very rarely capable of anything near 30 kts to begin with, being nearly worn to a frazzle, and didn't need that 'extra' boiler eating up fuel for no extra speed. As an escort, they would be at the very least a mild hindrance to I-boats turned loose on the convoy lanes. Combined with a Sangamon, they would be capable of doing some really good work between San Fran and Sydney/Brisbane, specially if AP types are involved. Hope the old girls are divided up into classes, because there are at least two distinctly different ranges of range between the builders.

Pretty sure the various class distinctions have been made, as Don did the 4 pipers in CHS so long ago.
