herbie goes bananas again
Expensive day
Well all 3 LBA squadrons, 2 of betties, 1 of Nells did launch at efate, hitting 2 DDs with torps and one AP, for 4 bombers lost, and over 36 damaged!!!!!!
Expensive man, expensive.
But it might give wobbly pause to think about exposing invasion fleets at lunganville
His CVs are moving west, why I wonder?
I think my remaining troops in Aussie are on a very short term lease
Trying to evac by sub at the moment
Tanaka is ordered to hit Efate, a big gamble, he is a long way away, but what the heck, a man has got to do what a man has got to do.
Hypo aggressive herb is starting to come out
Is wobbly still posting?

RE: Expensive day
Wobbly hasn't posted in 2 weeks. It has been interesting reading boths AARs seeing what you/(he) are/(is) planning and vice versa and then realize that there is/(is not) going to be a major battle. Like the time you had your carriers floating waiting for ambush near GG and he was sending his ships in that direction. We all knew wobbly was in trouble, but then there was that training the pilots issue that let all those juicy targets slip away[;)] I was looking for carnage
Wobbly posting
Ill get onto the slacko kiwi then to get posting.
Tanaka snuck just one hex closer to efate that turn, I was just a little too far away for a hit and run. Good thing too, as the convoy left, and a very large surface task force took its place.......
So tanaka is ordered to retire, awaiting better value targets.
Lunganville was visited by LBA today, I need 10 more days before he invades that place
landed at rossel island, all of 30 soldiers, who will now have a picnic
Lots of wobbly activity on aussie coast, I think a big brother eviction is about to happen....
never liked the place anyway, that xxxx beer is shocking.

gathering storm
2 days of posting
all quiet on the fronts, LBA hit lunganville, again[8|]
heaps of ships at efate and cairns, a big 2 thrust offensive is coming, Im sure of it.
5 days time and I begin to load for my do or die effort
Let him attack, and get tied down, and I want to blind side him.
Of course WITP might soon intrude badly......

CV wasp of townsville, a decoy, something sinister, deliberate trailing of the coat or just plain spotted?

The sound of mice scurrying around the pacific is all that can be heard....
Trying at the moment to evac construction troops from nevea to shortlands.

Herbie,
I'm a second-time around newbie. First time I tried was a good 18 months ago. recently re-installed and I've been following your aar; thoroughly enjoying it. More importantly, its giving me a better idea of how to play the damn thing![:)]. Maybe I'll stick it out this time!
keep the installments coming.[8D]

Gentlemen, we're in the stickiest situation since Sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun'. -Capt. E. Blackadder.
Encouragement
Thanks for the encouragement
Another quiet turn
Ive got a significant convoy entering Nevea this coming turn, so Tanaka is going to lurk about and cover him
Bit of a worry this quiet time, as his CVs have dropped of the map
We have had a fair bit of banter between us, Wobbly reckons he is now safe from an auto victory, but is concerned that I might have just settled in for a hard slog (which I would'nt mind at all being a guy who plays for the sheer enjoyment of it, win or lose)
I do have 2 divisions now spare to send on an offensive (though I told wobbly I have 3[8|]) (my Christian Morals are struggling with that[:D])
Anyway, 2 brand new divisions begin loading in one huge convoy.
Time to force an issue.[:)]

Still quiet
If you dont count 40 B17s shattering the base at Nevea[:(], nothing has happened for about 4 days now. My invasion is loading, my planes are recovering, and Im moving supplies about. Will soon get Munda up and running.
Time to start pulling the head in, Nevea will be emptied as soon as I can get the planes out.
I hate B17s....
Grrrrrr
Oh, Mushia and Yamato make a fine sight as they leave Toyko bay. I very eagerly await their arrival[:D][:D][:D]

Quiet still
cooktown is hammered by LBA, I feel not long to go there...
I blantantly tell Wobbly a fib...anything to give he pause as my troops are loading, although still 10 days away, I tell him yamato and mushia are about to be unleashed
Truk is emptied as base forces move to Munda
And wobbly complains no one is doing turns, has WITP lured everyone away....
Here there is a war to fight...things may be quiet, but when the clash happens it aint going to be pretty...[:)]

Smacked!!!
I knew wobbly would get bored.
A TF of CA Chicago and about 6 DDs elude air searches and smack Woodlark island
Here they sink 1APD, 2 AP, and 4 barges
very very cheeky....
However on the way out at least 1 DD hits a mine, and now several cripples are floating about the reef area of GG
Hats off to his move though....
me, Im still loading troops, awaiting the big BBs, shuffling planes ect
Irau still repairing, scary how quickly it was shut down.
Lesson, construction troops and engineers essential if you want to keep a place open, just base forces aint enough.

Dust bin of history
Suspect that WITP has consigned this game to the dust bin of history.
Ah well
Our war continues, wobbly got away, he was happy too the kiwi wool picker him.
Im still organising.
The invasion fleet is sailing south, an awful lot of LBA is now at efate blockading lunganville.
This is good
If all goes well Wobbly will have just started to land at lunganville(he'll need 2 divisions) , and probably be doing a small op elsewhere, and I will arrive at noumea.
I hope
If it all goes to pot at least Ive had a go.

RE: Dust bin of history
Personally I consider WitP too big to do PBEM with. But that could be just me.
Hopefully I will have me email back on line tonight, and can return to my own PBEM games after a two week hiatus.

WITP PBEM
Id like to just recieve the CD so I can try it, downloading is out.
My submarines are now evacuating cooktown
My planes have evacuated nevea
Im going to try to begin to evac lunganville, but incorporate that into the great plan
Imperial HQ is going to gamble, a great complicated operation, operation OCTOPUS
1/
Objective:
Force enemy CVs into battle
Take noumea(or at least arrive there)
Evac Lunganville
2/Light Cvs to "dance about " south of PM
3/ BBs, all of them to be used as a fast transport fleet, and to hit efate (this will be yamato, mushia and 3 kongos
4/tanaka to seek battle after the enivitable clash
5/have KB and invasion fleet "pop up" out of nowhere while wobbly is elsewhere!
Sounds oh so easy doesnt it[8|]
Timing, weather all critical, and a lot of luck
Wobbly CVs have dropped of the map, I think they are waiting in Ambush near townsville, waiting for myself to show up, (which I intend, although every LBA I have will be waiting too)
Whatever, getting the troops out of cooktown before they get thrown out[:'(]

invasion convoy
The invasion convoy slowly moves south, the volcano of Rabual on the horizon
I had some emilies hit noumea, no luck
Moving as many CD units as I can find to PM
And thats that
Where is wobbly and his CVs?

Missing CVs
They're sulking. You don't play nice.
Maybe if you apologised, they'd come out to play?

RE: herbie goes bananas again
As we await the main battleships to arrive, the invasion fleet moves past rabual..
Lots of heavy seaplane strikes at night on various ports, rewarded with a hit on a CA in Noumea
Costing a lot in planes, but it is the only way I am willing to hit him at the moment.
Only real naval force sailing near the front is a cl, dd, apd force going to nevea to pick up a base force, have decide to boost irau, have nevea light.last game wobbly would hit a place , smash it, but then tend to forget it, several times I repaired quietly, then moved in planes for a hit and run. will try this again.
Still no sign of Wobbly CVs[:(]

Sniping
The Mavis squadrons visited townsville again last night, and hit a MSW
Poor lunganville copped a hammering last night, puttiong supplies back into the pink, a fast transport TF is headed to nevea, there it will I think begin pulling out the troops.
Risky days ahead.
In 4 days time the big BBs arrive, and op octopus will begin, wobbly needs to co operate by invading somewhere soon, maybe pulling out of lunganville will help entice his noumea troops north, at the moment 1st marine division must still be there, plus heaps of other troops.
Can I get an auto victory by holding any of the other bases on the island of noumea come 1943?
Any one help me with auto victory conditions required.
Must admit 1st game Ive ever been in a situation I could even contemplate it.[:(]

RE: Sniping
I think the only AV bases now are Townsville, Rockhampton, Brisbane and Noumea itself. No other bases count. I think this was changed in 2.20 or 2.30 patch. Of course, I could be mistaken; if so, I hope someone will correct me.
Sing to the tune of "Man on the Flying Trapeze"
..Oh! We fly o'er the treetops with inches to spare,
There's smoke in the cockpit and gray in my hair.
The tracers look fine as a strafin' we go.
But, brother, we're TOO God damn low...

Operation octopus
If wobbly doesnt move some troops from noumea soon, then this game is going to get very boring. Rockhampton is now the target
I think there will be far too many troops in Noumea, but at the most 2 regiments in rocky.
But wobbly has too commit to a operation somewhere else 1st![:(]
With that in mind a fast transport TF is now leaving nevea for lunganville, beginning to evac 144 regiment of the south seas detachment.
The invasion fleet is now north of woodlark, marking time.
A convoy is headed to PM loaded with CD units scraped up here and there, and extra supplies
In Aussie subs continue to evac, timing was perfect so far, as a regiment has arrived after a hard march to the hex south of cairns, only to find empty beer bottles and 20 pissed soldiers comatose on the beach, who decided that returning to the jungles of new guinea wasnt a good idea[:D]
Cooktown evac has begun, as wobbly LBA craters it again, and again
i will lay a bet that as soon as Yamato and mushia sail, a sub will put a single 30 system damage into yamato, I reckon that is hard wired into this game[:@][:@]
