I think the Allies might want to just go with deliberate attacks in NZ, shock attacks are doing them more damage than the Japanese invasion. The same for the Japanese elsewhere.

Looks like PH will probably fall a month or so beyond WitP's schedule (2/20/42) unless the Japanese supplies give out. If those forces from Aukland (very audacious move BTW, too bad it has turned into a debacle) had been in the PH invasion though it might have gone faster.

What worries me most for the Japanese future is the battering his merchant fleet has suffered in the past few days - especially in New Zealand. That looks to be a failed invasion with lots of sunk transports. It would be interesting to have a new update on ship losses, especially the support craft.

Yes, shock attacks are very risky.

It appears PH is about to fall. Each of the last two turns saw a drop in fortification level. Some additonal reinforcements are on the way but they may be turned back.

Auckland is a disappointment. Recon indicated that there was only about 5,000 New Zealand troops at the city. It is possible the 1st NZ division only showed up the last minute. There are more units on the way so we will see how it goes.

What worries me most for the Japanese future is the battering his merchant fleet has suffered in the past few days - especially in New Zealand. That looks to be a failed invasion with lots of sunk transports. It would be interesting to have a new update on ship losses, especially the support craft.

My AP fleet is badly battered but my AK fleet is fine. Hopefully once the Japanese invasion chapter of this war is over, the lack of APs won't matter much. If New Zealand can be secured there will be a very strong defensive line in the Pacific from the top of the map to the bottom.

How butchered are the units that took PH? Will they be of use relatively quickly or will they need 6 months of rest before up to combat strength? I know the IJN took a pasting.

Bad day for the Allies. PH fell and the communists are on the run in China. I hope I can hold NZ, and still am waiting on any kind of major reinforcements. I have figured out that the Japanese can take anything they want in the first 6 months of the war, but what is the price. I don't think that they can get an autovictory, if they do they will have to go balls out to get it. I am really trying to just to hold on at this time. PH is going to be tough nut to crack, I may have to go around it some how. Since my subs can hit a side of a barn or even attack one, he will have PH really bulit up. I hope I hurt is AK and AP fleet, but he will have more coming on line soon. The next few months will tell it all. If I can hold in certain places I can counter attack from a few special place I have in mind.

Is Brunei the only base in Borneo he has grabbed so far? I may have missed the others.

I am still trying to figure out why he is bombing the resources at Kuala Lampur. He will just have to pay to fix it later.

I think he is doing it so i can't use them. He has the other two oil producers there. If he wants the other DEI ones he needs to find some shipping to move them there.

The grounds units are fine and they now have a lot of experience. I need to accelerate the AP production to increase my mobility. AKs are still plentiful. The Alaska to New Zealand line will be built up so I can keep the US from reinforcing the Commonwealth.

The resources are being bombed in Malay so I can starve them out. I am no longer bombing in the PIs. Reinforcements are on their way to take Clark Field.

The battle for Auckland has been brutal but I may soon have the upperhand. It seems the 1st New Zealand Division appeared exactly at the right moment. However I've landed behind the city on the road and more invasion forces are arriving.

In China the Japanese are marching toward Chungking. The Chinese armies in the north have mostly been beaten and there isn't much blocking the route west. Once Chungking falls I can secure the cities in south China.

Indian units have invaded Siam but I've moved a strong IJA corps to hold them off. Unless he brings additional units, I should be able to hold out easily.

I have come to think that CD's really don't do much in the way of stopping invasions. Sure they sink ships, but hardly stop troops from coming ashore. In PH and in New Zeland I hit is transports hard with CD's and from the air and it seems that all of the troops landed without much pain. I pounded his ships around these two places and it doesn't even seem to affect many of the troops landing. Until I get more troops, if he can move his around he can do pretty much what ever wants until 43 when I get a lot more troops and ships.

PH is going to be tough nut to crack, I may have to go around it some how. Since my subs can hit a side of a barn or even attack one, he will have PH really bulit up.

IMHO, PH is not at all neccessary to retake. The South Pacific route is a great axis of advance for the allies. And PH plays no role in such an advance. But losing both PH and all the key South Pacific islands (NZ, New Caledonia, Fiji Islands, etc) would be a blow.

All in all, this has been pretty darn interesting. What's the VP count? Trying to gauge the liklihood of an auto-victory.

I don't think I can get the 4-1 advantage now that I've lost the CV, CVL, and BB in the Battle of New Zealand. Though if I can take out the PI, Burma, Malay, and the rest of China that will be a lot of points the Allies will lose.
