Stupid BB gets hit by a sub and my bombardment TF gets in trouble. Seems BBs aren't worth it, CAs are faster and stay out of trouble.

China: Threat to Changsa is temporary - help is on the way. In fact should it fall it might be an opportunity to trap some Chinese units...

The brave men of the Kendari "Commando" Bn performed a daring recon of the IJA invasion beaches and brought disturbing news back to General Wavell's HQ...

(In all my games Kendari Bn gets the shitty jobs...sub launched recons, FT recons etc dont know why I pick on them but in every game they suffer murderous casualties in the interests of getting me intel...)

Elements of no less than 8 IJA Divisions have been sighted at Merak including the formidable Imperial Guards Division...

This is THE IJA offensive of 1942.

At least two tank Regts were sighted as well...

Thats a hell of a lot of firepower holed up in a poxy lvl 2 base.

Northern Java is looking decidely ropey as a defensive position......

Allied Intel expects the offensive to begin any day now.

Defenses of Java are much lighter than the number of units indicated. Things are looking good for Japan - Java should fall soon and China is under control. Where to next?

Aye I must admit I totally underestimated the scale of the landings made.

Only after the reports of my Kendari Commandoes did I realise you had landed 8 of your best divisions there.

Even so losing it in one day with all of those stockpiled supplies is a blow.

OK IJA moves south in force next few days going to be interesting.

Currently I am very nervous as to where Sveint will strike next.

I am also not sure If I really caught IJA out of position in China...(as it appears) or if it is a feint to draw me out.

Changsa being retakenb was an interesting development but I am unsure I can hold it.

Japanese situation as we enter May 1942:

China has become an unfortunate stalemate. I'm not too happy about that, but there isn't much I can do about it. I will dig in and transfer a very few divisions to other fronts. Should an opportunity present itself we will try another offensive, but unless China makes a major mistake this is highly unlikely to happen.

Burma has been a thorn in our side for a long time. I intend to take Rangoon as soon as it's possible, which means Java has to fall first. For now we are safely entrenched in Bangkok (Temperate; an ideal place for some R&R).

Java is going smoothly after a rough start. Our two armies seem to be largely superior to the Allied forces, and I'm happy about that. I wouldn't call it overkill - Java was simply a battle I could not afford to lose. Hopefully we will be able to bag some prisoners too - but not until Soerabaja falls, the Allied air force there is much too strong for us to prevent Allied shipping from entering ports in southern Java.

Pacific - all quiet. We are slowly building defenses.

Now for the bad news. The Japanese fleet has taken quite a beating. Three BBs have sunk and all but one of the others are in docks for repair! Fortunately our carrier force remains intact, although a couple (can't be specific) still need "paint jobs". Another good point is that I've used the carriers sparingly and that the pilots are still highly trained. Major Japanese ports are also full of various other ships needing repair. Too many in fact. To be honest I don't think I have the fleet to make another major amphibious invasion, considering that by now the Allied fleet is much stronger too. Unless I am able to sink some more Allied carriers that is...

Allied Position in May

Burma is reasonably secure and therefore so is India until such time as the IJA win on Java or withdraw formations from China.

Basically when Java falls he will have a lot of forces able to fight elsewhere and Burma becomes untenable.

China I think Sveint made a mistake committing to an offensive so far off of the rail net. I made him pay for it by retaking Changsa but I have gotten to cocky and may lose some Chinese units ads the IJA closes the pocket behind me.

Java I underestimated how much strength Sveint had committed and its now a juggernaught advancing down java. 9 Divisions plus supportin armour is a hard force to stop.

Pacific all quiet.

RN has taken a beating losing 1 CV and many BB's

Overall I have lost and damaged units that will be hard to replace for a while.

I should overcome but not for a while.

All is quiet apart from a training raid launched from North Australia on Timor and guess what .....The IJN is coming out to play.

I sight about 4 CV's plus lots of support off the Western shore of Java heading south

Looks like KB is coming to challenge my air supremacy in the South of Java
