Report of 6/29/42

URSS

Soviet troops in Vladivostok shock attacked but they were easily repulsed and they suffered the loss of 1100 men and 75 guns.

North Pac

TF North Carolina is probably running east, because my planes didn't attack her today. Instead they have attacked merchant ships unloading in Attu, sinking a couple of them.
In the afternoon US planes coming from Kiska attacked 2. Car Div and placed 2 bombs on Akagi. However the bombs exploded doing no damages. [;)]

Indian Ocean

A british surface TF, comprising BB Warspite, BB Revenge, 3 CA, 5 CL and 4 CLAA shelled Andaman Is, causing 580 casualties and doing little damages.
My recon didn't spot the enemy ships at all. [:@][:@]
From Singapore I ordered 1. CarDiv, with CV Hiryu, CV Hiyio, CV Junyo and CVL Ryujo to sail towards the archipelago and to patrol the zone. The next time we will be there.

Report of 6/29/42 (last was of 6/28)

URSS

Indian Ocean

Allied 4E bombers began yesterday to bomb Andaman Is. Today they came again, with 6 B-17 and 23 LB-30. My 24 Oscar forced the Liberator to turn back. Only 7 B-17 bombed the airfield, destroying 1 Emily and 1 Dinah. 2 Oscar have been shot down. No allied losses, but 23 bombers damaged.

North Pac

2. CarDiv attacked again allied ships unloading on Attu, and hit 2 DD with 1 bomb each, and 1 Ap with 2 bombs and 1 AK with 1 torpedo. My losses are 5 Zero, 2 Val and 4 Kate.

Later planes from Kiska attacked my ships. My CAP and AA fire shot down 15 enemy aircraft and damaged another 5. My losses are 2 Zero.
2 bombs hit BB Kirishima with no effect and 2 bombs struck CV Shokaku on deck, but, again, the damages are minimal.

Report of 6/30/42

North Pac

This time US aircraft of Kiska have been very aggressive on attacking CarDiv2, hitting with 2 bombs Soryu, and with one bomb each Akagu and Kirishima. The US lost 6 bombers and 7 fighters. CAP lost only 1 Zero.

CV Soryu is at 46/6/22 and CV Akagi at 17/0/8. 2 Car Div must now withdrawn to Tokyo.

1 Val and 1 Kate have been shot down over Attu, attacking enemy transport ships. DD Cushing took 2 torpedoes and sunk and two others ships have been damaged: 1 AP with one bomb and 1 AK with one torpedo.

At this point I think Attu I. is lost.

URSS

Because Attu will fall soon, Imperial High Command has decided to transform Petropavlovsk in a fortress. Eng units will be transferred there to expand fort and airfield size and the 53. Inf Division that previously were destined to invade Kiska, has been ordered to stay in Petro.

Paramushiro Jima and Eterofo Jima will be also reinforced and build up to support Petro defense.

At Vladivostok I have now 267'000 men, 3134 guns and 776 AFV, with an assault value of 4124. But a lot of units are tired. I will go for bombardement for a while. The 4 BB (Kongo, Nagato, Fuso and Hyuga) will also continue the shore bombardement.

Royal Navy

A good new is that Royal Navy must withdrawn 1 CV and 2 DD.

North Pac

Allied forces landed in Attu shock attacked and conquered the island, capturing 791 imperial soldiers.
Adi landed and attacked with 32391 men, while in defense of the island I had 3143 soldiers. He waited long time before attacking. Maybe I though my garrison was stronger.

Report of

Indian Ocean

Adi sent for the second time a bombardement TF to shell Andaman I. The TF, composed by BB Revenge, BB Warspite, 3 CA, 2 CL, 3 CLAA and 4 DD, destroyed a total of 28 aircraft during the night bombardement, causing a lot of damage and inflicting 1759 casualties.
But the TF didn't ran away quickly enough. My Nell and Betty based in Victoria Point attacked the british ships and hot with 3 torpedoes Warspite and with 1 torpedo Revenge. When my planes turned back, Warspite was listing and burning. 2 Nell and 6 Betty have been shot down during the attack.

North Pac

DD Morris received 2 long lance off Kiska I.

URSS

The troops destined to India are 3-4 days away from

North of Vladivostok the 63000 men pushing south forced the 11000 soviet soldiers defending the importan crossroad to retreat towards Uglahamensk.

Report of 7/31/42

URSS

I finally unloaded in Hungnam in all the units previously destined to the India offensive.

Meanwhile the soviet units defending the crossroad north of Vladi have been defeated and my units are now marching south, towards Uglahamensk. I want to occupy this town before conquer Vladi

North Pac

Petropavlovsk and Paramushiro Jima are building their defenses.
At Eterofo Jima I based the 1. and 2. Carrier Division, (carrier Hiryu, Junyu, Hiyo and CVL Ryujo), with BB Yamato and Haruna. Those ships are ready to attack an eventual enemy TF attacking my bases.
In addition I'm expanding Petro and Paramu afld, to base there some bombers.

URSS

My units coming from Malesia attacked the soviet border unit between Korea and URSS. The enemy unit is holding for now, but I suppose she will not do it longer.

CHINA

The situation in Changsha is critical. Chinese are attacking with 255'600 men. I have only 83'500 there and I ordered them to retreat towards Nanchang and Wuhan. I hope they will able to do it.
During the first day the chinese lost 8928 men, while I counted 3715 casualties.
In the second day they lost 5584 men, while I lost 2686 men.

Report of 8/10/1942

URSS

This is the great day: 446112 japanese soldiers, with 4737 guns and 1218 vehicles, attacked 147'380 soviet soldiers, with 1659 guns and 20 vehicle.
It has been a deliberate attack. The fort has been reduced to 6, but the odds were 0:1.
My losses were 13724 men, 387 guns and 55 vehicles, vs 6567 men, 229 guns and 2 vehicles for the soviets.

Report of 8/15/1942

URSS

My troops are seizing Vladivostok. The fort has dropped by 2 level, but cost me a lot of men. Beacuse of that they need to rest for at least a week between an assault and another. Meanwhile I bombard enemy positions with bombers and the TF Nagato, comprising of 4 BB.

In the north Sunwu surrendered to the soviets. We'll see which will be their next target. I received a couple of days ago the 1. Tank Division, and I'm sending her to Mutanchiang, ready to respond to any enemy attack.

China

Enemy activities are registered in Changsha. I'm trying to retreat to Wuhan but my troops are locked by the enemy and they don't move. [:(]

Another 91000 chineses, coming from Homan tried to attack Kaifeng, but I intercepted them at the crossroad NW of the city, with 2 infantry divisions, 1 cav division and 1 infantry brigade. By now the enemy have been stopped.

Indian Ocean

A british surface TF, comprising 3 CA, 5 CL, 2 CLAA and some DD bombarded Andaman I., sinking one AK while unloading supplies. The afld didn't suffered damages. Now the enemy TF is running to Trincomalee, but, since Andaman is a size 4 afld, I intend to transfer there some Betty and Nell, and try to attack her.

SW Pac

Adi started to bomb PM with Liberator based in Australia. I moved my Zero in Lae and they are flying LR CAP over PM, but the losses are still heavy.

Report for August 15-31, 1942

Okay, it's time to write a bit what's happened in the last 2 weeks. In fact, nothing much.

URSS

The soviet are marching south. They have reached Harbin and started to demolish my fort, that is now at 2.
My troops seizing Vladivostok tried twice to attack without success and loosing thousands of men.

Just today I started to bomb the city of Vladivostok.

Indian Ocean

Adi did it again. He sent a big surface TF with CA, CL and DD, to shell the Andaman Is. The damages were extremely poor.
During the day my Nell taking off from Sumatra placed one torpedo on the stomach of CA Devosnhire. I suppose he will be out of action for a while.

Cent Pac

Shokaku and Zuikaku are on patrol in Canton-Baker area. They surprised dozens of merchant ships in Canton and since two days my planes are attacking without opposition. I don't know exactly how many ship sunk, but at least 15 have been seriously damaged.

China

In Changsha Adi is attacking furiously. I think I've lost, in the last 10 days, more than 40 K men.

Enemy bombers are attacking PM and Burma every day. I really don't know how to stop them. By now I'm sending 3 more CV and 1 CVL to Kwajalein to attack allied supply lanes.

Report of September 1st - 13th 1942

During those 13 days, Red Army crushed me in Manchukuo. The soviet reached and occupied Harbin, the Zero factory included. [:(]

Other events occurred in Burma, were some allied troops are moving south, with heavy air cover. I suppose Adi intends to reopen the Burma Road.

Allied offensive

Post by George Patton »

Report of September 14th 1942

Finally, the allied offensive is starting.
Adi sent a lot of TF in SW Pac. The main objective are the Solomons. I don't know yet which island.
Lunga has been attacked with 50 B-24. A lot of damage: the afld is near to be closed.
In the afternoon anyway bombers there based attacked enemy TF.
They hit BB Mississippi with 3 torpedoes and BB New Mexico with 5. [:D]
Two transport took one torpedo each, so one DD as well.
No enemy carrier spotted by now, but I'm sure they are in the area. Adi should have only two of them.
KB is near Apamama atoll, heading west.
I'm reinforcing Lunga with more fighters. I need to keep the afld open and I expect more bombers tomorrow.

Reporto of September 15th 1942

SW Pac

56 B-24 attacked Lunga in the morning. CAP shot down 9 and damaged 21. 1 Zero lost and 2 Betty destroyed on the ground. Only 16 bombers arrived over the afld and done little damages.

My recon finally spotted CV Hornet. 27 bombers attacked her. Only 1 torpedo hit the carrier. 9 fighters and 11 bombers shot down, vs 4 F4F.
Hornet's plane attacked ships anchored in Lunga in the afternoon, heavily damaging one AK while unloading supplies.

Invasion TF is only 1 hex from Rennel I and she will land troops tomorrow. I hope KB will be in range of Hornet tomorrow.

Sink all those Yankee Imperialists! BANZAI! (Just don't do that in our game. [;)])

To me it looks like you're in a good position here to hurt his naval assets severely. What ground forces do you have defending Lunga? Enough to hold out for a few days against a large invasion? That could give you more time to sink allied ships.

Good luck! [:)]
