Thailand!

Yeah, we are in Thailand now. Crazy! [:)]

I´m going to follow the advice I have been given. As soon as the Armor arrives I will send it to Ayuthia (strange name) to cut the supply in northern Thailand. I have 3000 AV moving to secure the 3 bases up there. As seen in the screenshot its virtually empty. What I thought might be a division is more likely a RGT or BDE.

But first we are going to rest for a day or two. My air force is in desperate need of rest after almost 2 weeks of constant flying. We did send a last message to the Japanese before the short vacation...Gotta love clear hexes! [;)]

The key here will be to rob Erik of supplies. I´m going to do that by making his AA burn it all up. I remember when I had bunched all my AA in Burma into one hex and it burned though 20.000 supply in one turn firing at attacking bombers. I don´t think Erik has 20.000 AV to spare?

A small supply crisis has started to develop on the PI front.

------------------------
Supply "crisis"
------------------------
Its not a crises per see. I´m not lacking supply or running out. But the tremendous amount of planes at Cotabato and Manado (almost 3000 planes) require a massive amount of supply. I don´t know how the game calculates this but Cotabato has 180.000 supply but are still in the yellow. That means no droptanks. Thats not good.

This situation has developed since I have been rearranging the supply lines. It will take probably another month before everything is up and running. But right now I need to scramble to get more supply to Cotabato. I have 700.000 onroute that I was going to send to Balikpapan. That will have to wait though. Cotabato is priority so I will send 500.000 to Cotabato and only 200.000 to Balikpapan for now. Roughly 2 million supply are on the move but it will be awhile before it arrives. Right now I don´t have even a lone xAK disbanded in port. Every single one is sailing somewhere or repairing.

------------------------
Kendari
------------------------
Erik managed to get his transports out. Dang.

------------------------
Luzon
------------------------
Yeah, Luzon too! [;)]

Trying to take advantage on the evil eye being centered on Thailand I´m landing on Luzon tomorrow. See screenshot for details. Luckily for me Eriks naval search is really poor in the area and while it picked up one of the TFs yesterday it was only a 3/10 DL. I hope he mistook it for a cargo TF. Today at the start point it was more of the same. One TF is showing 3/11 and the other 1/12. I hope Erik have missed them all together. Tomorrow we will know.

I have 400 fighters on LRCAP from Iloilo and San Jose. These are the absolute best airgroups I have. Mostly P47s and Corsairs but also some P51s. The landing site is only 3 hexes away from Manila but if Erik has missed the TFs altogether he might have them on training and not naval strike. 178 bombers and 350 Fighters listed at Manila and another 170 Fighters at Clark.

This is a bit of a chance. But I have embedded some slow BBs and I hope they will act as sponges for any Kamis/Bombers getting through the LRCAP. I will take some losses this time though if Erik has his kamis and bombers on Navattack. We will know later today.

I´ll be landing with a reinforced Corps. Enough that Erik has has no chance to counterattack. Landing site is Boac. Its empty and the Jungle terrain will help shelter my troops before we start pushing out from Boac. Erik has 12 units at Atimonan. Its a clear hex though so I don´t foresee and problems here.

Looks like lots of potential size 9 AFs in southern Luzon. [:D][:D]

Do you have a good track of where you have all those construction engineers are at and how many do you have headed here??

Yes, Most of them are building up the AF at Iloilo (8.76). I have barges ready there to start shuttling them to Boac as soon as the AF hits 9! [:)]

Joc - I think you should check the hexsides out of Boac. The side to the northeast (to Atimonan) is impassable to ground troops. Boac is the ISLAND off the coast of Luzon. A landing there will NOT get you on Luzon, but rather on a useless island. "W" is the hotkey. You need to consider Legaspi or Naga.

With the supply and fighter range problems you've encountered it's seems amazing that MacArthur would attempt a jump from Leyte to Lingayen, and SUCCEED!

Edit: My first edit must have got lost in the ether. Anyway, except for my comment on MacArthur, all of the above is UNTRUE. Don't know what I was looking at, but a second look shows that a landing at Boac will get you on Luzon, as Joc has already determined. And "W" is the hotkey for hexside CONTROL, not geography. Sorry for any confusion.

Are you guys sure?! There is a road going from Boac to Antimoan?! [X(] If you are right that would SUCK.

DOCUP, Yes they would be mine indeed! [:D]

EDIT: Stop scaring me! Loaded up a SCEN 1 game and I could walk to Boac. Phew! [X(]

Use the F6 key to turn on the hex side codes. If it is green (pass land units only) or white (pass land units and naval units) then good.

Its green. Thank god! That would have been the most embarrassing mistake. Ever? [:D]

Allies land on Luzon!!

Well, looks like the forum was restored from an old backup. So my post about the Boac landing disappeared. I don´t have the energy to rewrite it. But basically it went very well. Troops are onshore completely intact without a single loss.

BB Mississippi took two torps and will probably be out for the rest of the war.

Here is the screen I attached.

Looks like Erik will bunch up his superstack again and try to escape through the clear hex. This is a golden opportunity for me. I can either try and close him of. Or even better, try to engage him in the clear hex!

My combined strength should be around 10k AV that I can focus on that clear hex. It should be enough to deal with Erik forces. By the time they arrive the should be out of supply, fatigued and low morale.

I think this has a good chance of success. [:)]

Besides the action in Thailand and the landings on Luzon things are pretty quiet.

------------------------
Marianas
------------------------
CVs reach the Marianas. They are to escort a couple of big convoys coming from PH and the WC. Some troops will also be picked up from the Saipan.

Another deliberate attack at Guam tomorrow. Troops have recovered and bombardments have been working over the defenders with good effect.
Ground combat at Guam (106,95)

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 1980 troops, 239 guns, 132 vehicles, Assault Value = 1521

Defending force 22414 troops, 409 guns, 84 vehicles, Assault Value = 229

Japanese ground losses:
132 casualties reported
Squads: 2 destroyed, 6 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Guns lost 8 (4 destroyed, 4 disabled)
Vehicles lost 3 (2 destroyed, 1 disabled
)

Might get the base tomorrow with some luck.

------------------------
DEI
------------------------
The slow advance continues. We reached Dili with a scouting force.

Ground combat at Dili (71,115)

Allied Bombardment attack

Attacking force 11961 troops, 141 guns, 123 vehicles, Assault Value = 680

Defending force 11509 troops, 77 guns, 11 vehicles, Assault Value = 363

Assaulting units:
2/6th Armoured Regiment
1st Army Tank Regiment
2/5th Armoured Regiment
7th Australian Division

I Australian Corps

Defending units:
43rd Engineer Regiment

124th Infantry Regiment
3rd Raiding Regiment
Sasebo 3rd SNLF

9th Field AF Construction Battalion
35th JNAF AF Unit
4th Tank Regiment

I´ll wait for the Americal to arrive before starting the attacks.

------------------------
Elsewhere
------------------------
Its quiet. The map is shrinking.

Kind of figured Erik would try and LRCAP his little blocking force. [:'(]
