RE: RN Pacific Fleet
So far these are the additions and changes made.
NAVAL ADDITIONS
HMS Pioneer (Colossus Class CVL) arrives April 1945, replenishment carrier RF-4 & RT-4
HMS Belfast (Edinburgh Class CL) arrives September 1945
HMS Vindex changed to replenishment carrier
HMS Arbiter changed to replenishment carrier
HMS Rajah added as replenishment carrier, arrives October 1944 (Cochin)
HMS Ranee added as replenishment carrier, arrives May 1945
HMS Slinger changed to replenishment carrier
HMS Striker arrival port changed to Melbourne 23 Dec 1944
AIR ADDITIONS
So far only a couple. With the extra art spaces from the latest patch I've so far added the F-7A Liberator for the USAAF and Hawk 81A-2 for the AVG.

RE: RN Pacific Fleet
Why did you need only Britsh Pacific Fleet units, ad what it has to do with CHS? There were many vessels which were available in 1945, but were on Indian Ocean and not Pacific.

Got to start somewhere [:)] The RN seems to be lacking a few ships here and there, the ones I noticed were from the fleet train in '45. I'll happily add any others that people feel are missing.

RE: RN Pacific Fleet
I've got the book 'Task Force 57: The British Pacific Fleet, 1944-45' by Peter C Smith (ISBN 0-947554-85-8). In the appendixes it gives fleet composition for May 45 and VJ day (including names of COs).
It also gives FAA sqdns in BPF in same period, but as you know they moved between CVs as situation demanded. Going through the FAA website mentioned earlier will show how some sqdns arrived in theatre on CVE to be transferred to fleet CV later. (not easy to accomplish given game mechanics).
I'll scan in details at work tomorrow and post them here or pm them to you.

I found the book, its the 50th anniversary of the BPF & East Indies Fleet so it covers the RN in the SEA theatre. I'll scan the tables today.

RE: RN Pacific Fleet
Thanks to everyone who's helped so far. There are about 100 or so ships missing that I've found across the BPF and EIF, plus I'm expecting to find a few more when I have a proper look through the escorts in Tallyho's post. A few ship classes need adding, most notably the Loch and Bay class frigates and the Banff class cutters. The biggest omissions were probably HMS Belfast and the French cruiser Suffren.
I may be wrong, but it's early and I'm off to bed now [>:]

RE: Frontline FAA Squadrons
As switching air units between carrers to other carriers or land bases isn't really possible the current plan is to have the carriers arrive with the squadrons on board which were historically assigned at that point whenever possible. Some ships have needed a reshuffling of airgroups as their 'assigned' units were already in theatre. Mostly this has just involved replacing it with a unit which was assigned at a later date. So far three carrier based units have been added and several have had their ships changed around.
There have also been several ships added to the RN & RIN, mostly corvettes and frigates. As the latest patch has 'extra' aircraft art spaces I've also added photo-recon Liberators and given the AVG the Hawk 81A-2 for 2 of the slots. There are still 2 more left, more if some of the early VVS planes are removed. I've considered a few but there's no decision yet (Blenheim V, Beaufighter X, Anson, PBJ, Tempest, P-40 or P-38 variants), so if anyone has suggestions for planes that they feel should be in but aren't then fire away.

RE: Frontline FAA Squadrons
In my CHS tweak, I used the extra slots by adding the Hurricane IIc, C-54, PB4Y-2 Prvateer, and the PBJ-1J. I also eliminated the TBM, upped the production rate on the TBM-3d to compensate (virtually all TBM-3s had radar added in the field if not the factory anyway). I replaced the TBM slot with the fighter bomber F6F-5. I also replaced the LB-30 with the C-87. To make up for the LB-30, I added some B-24Ds to the pool at start.
I've been playing for a few weeks now against the AI and I'm into late January. I've found that dealing with the LB-30s this way makes me much more conservative with them. I know I don't get any more B-24Ds for a while, so I've been careful about deploying them.

RE: Frontline FAA Squadrons
Would there be a major problem with having FAA reinforcement units arrive on freighters to make them carrier trained? Whilst it's not an ideal solution, it will allow the use of several FAA units later in the war, especially the late war corsair units.

RE: Frontline FAA Squadrons
Pretty much certain that doing this would result in Carrier Capable, rather than Carrier Trained, units. It all comes down to whether or not they start out assigned to a carrier or not. Sorry, Dixie...

They definitely arrive as carrier trained in this situation. I was more concerned about knock-on effects on freighters and other situations.
