it's a bit dated but Feinder's thread may be of help.

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

Ideally, you want to have a separate install for each PBEM game, and then the Japanese player sends to the Allied player his pwhex file (in the main WitP folder, the one with witp.exe), to be copied onto the main WitP folder of the Allied player (so both players use the same (Japanese) pwhex.dat file). This has generally resolved all replay issues. However...

If you're playing mulitple PBEM games on the same install (which you probably are), chances are, no bad will come from the Allied player replacing the pwhex file (esp if stock). This should update everything, and resolve your replay issues. But because the pwhex file is actually from one specific Japanese opponent, it's -possible- that only the game from that opponent will run correctly, and all other games on the install, will get replay bugs (because you're not using their pwhex file).

Also, if you've got several games going, say one as Japan and one as Allies, replacing your pwhex file for the Allied game, could lead to "unpredictable results" in your Japanese game vs. a differnt Allied opponent (because he has a different pwhex file).

I hope this sorta makes sense.

Again, it's best to just make a separate install for each PBEM game. That way, you can share the pwhex file for each game individually, and can reload it if something gets corrupted (seen that once as well).

I am the Japanese player in all three pbems. So does this mean that I need to send my pwhex file to my opponents and have them install it?

Or should I re-install the game to get a "fresh" pwhex file?

BTW - AuTiger and I are no longer seeing combat replay issues, and we never saw any in my game that is in August 1942.

Also, my third game, which is in March 1942, we both started in v1.807, and we've never had Combat Replay problems. But the problem with not being able to bomb 43,40 started as soon as I started to try to bomb that hex after I captured Hong Kong (about mid-December 1942).

Thanks -
