Odd that you mention that, but since you dont umbrage with equal severity ALL posters
who are trying to influence the design, I will ignore you as biased.
And if the game has something YOU dont like, you can console yourself with your own words.
have you come to discuss your concerns or have you come to argue? - these people are trying to have a decent, constuctive discussion with you
My purpose in this thread was stated in the first post.
You could read it, and respond to THAT =)

I guess I am supposed to feel bad about such a remark =)
But I dont =)
Given the quality of the input, I doubt I will notice its absence =)
And to any mod reading this, the above poster posted his comment unprovoked.

RE: What is actually at stake with various boosting.
" Then that is unfortunate. Hopefully they got rid of the invincible B-17."
INVINCIBLE B-17? I have never noticed such a thing in WITP. I used to lose lots of them regularly. In stock WITP the problem is not that the B-17 is invincible, but rather that there are far too many of them. Since I play CHS, I don't have very many B-17s, so I've switched to losing lots of B-24s these days...
You should try playing one of the mods for a better feel on how AE might turn out. The crew producing AE have experienced WITP in its many versions and have a good idea as to how to fix most of the problems we have encountered so far.

Old discussion.
Some folks want Red vs. Blue.
Some folks want historical capability.
Some folks want fantasy.
You're never going to make everyone happy. The real kick is to not make everyone mad.
If you've already decided that you don't like the product. Don't buy it.

The only person making assumptions is YOU.
I know little about the product.
However when one poster openly admits that he is blatantly trying to influence
the design, and all the other posters remain silent,
then I see no reason at all to not to the same.
and I shall =)

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

Anyone who has played as the Japanese in WitP knows the points I have made are true.
Your scorn is amusing against that truth =)

I've got more important things to spend my blood-pressure on.
Laconic obviosly has a drum to beat. But when your response to differing opinions is to simply bang the drum louder, it ceases to be productive.

All I can say is that there must be enough new sales of WITP to keep Matrix happy. Otherwise they would have dropped the price of the game by now.

I suggest you read the first post.
And btw, I owe NO ONE an explanation for anything.
The original game had several glaring flaws....
among them:
Japs running out of supply
USA not being allowed control of its own production
B-17's being used as anti-ship bombers and being immune to counter-measures
Weak AI
What people here are calling 'uber-cap' but what I would call 'alot of fighters'
The combat resolution being unable to tell the difference between merchants in the same hex as a CV. Or at least showing no sign of it. This allowed you to 'pad' the target hex with
merchants. Better them sunk than Akagi.
Then we have the various boosters that simply dont like what players could do as Japs.
Like make Rabual a formidable and dangerous place to go near.
Certain posters really didnt like that. They protest it to this day.
Certain posters that didnt like ANYTHING that favored the Japs.
You can tell such posters right away since they ignore events like
Savo Island and Tassaforanga Point as 'flukes'
But the most irksome problem was the one yet unsolved to my knowledge.
The inability of a night raiding Jap taskforce to spot, fire torps, and leave.
W/O enemy being able to react.
Because you see, they actually did do that. Not always well, but well enough at times.
My use of =)
Is a hallmark. It tells people with enough history, who I actually am.

Lanconic - if you are a new guy - I'd suggest that this whole thread has been provocative. I've read the initial post several times and still don't know what is being said or why. Provocative threads are not generally a good idea with this group - you will attract attention - but it will be negative.
And if you are not a new guy - then I'd suggest you read the forum rules as well - multiple identities are not allowed.
Thread Locked.
