Worth getting the original BTR or a similar game?

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

How about getting BOB? Is it still woth it? I regularly play BTR and even with the bugs it got I just love it but how is BOB compared to BTR? do they have the same kind of issues? ( sweepers dont fight back, shuffle unit bug and so on). I believe I read somewhere that BOB works on an older version of the engine and for instance the various industries are not connected like in BTR so shutting down of them doesnt mean to reduce the productivity of a similiar one. Is this true?

BoB was decent, and it is worth playing still, the only issue I would say, is a lot of people have trouble getting it to run right under XP and Vista

I have been able to run it still, but now, I can't get BoB41 to run anymore, so changes to windows are hurting it

the UI is a earlier verison, and alot of the later rules for BTR are not there, so it can be a pain when you are more used to BTR

(which in ours, both games run off the same engine, so basic game rules apply to both game, changes later on to the game, will take effect in both games, other then game only rules)

Cap87,

I dont have BOB in my game. I wish I did. For my BOB fix I am flying BOB II Wings of Victory. [8D]

For Hard Sarge, Swift, Harley and anybody else who works in the strat game world. If you guys could take BTR and build it out like BOBII Wings of Victory is where you could fly in the missions you have built that would be the ultimate WWII Strategic / Tactical Air War Game. [&o]

TechSgt,

... B-24's were typically used early in the campaign and would troll along the coastline waiting for the Luftwaffe to respond. [8D]

KBay;

I found that early in a campaign the LF will attack anything flying, so decoys work better. You can send one intruder group on a stream mission, and follow that up with another group doing singles to airbases. After a week of this the LF starts to ignore streaming intruders.
As the campaign progresses it becomes much harder to get decoys to work. I don't know if this is because of losses or a change in tactics, or both.

After awhile, when my aircraft inventories have built up, I am probably doing more "bulldozer" type missions anyways.

I did try to talk to them about such a game, maybe set up the life of one of the Tiffy Squadrons (to keep it under control) and see how it would work out, and if that sold well, then it could be expanded to a full war verison

(Buddye and gang are some very good programmers)

Hard Sarge.. Right On !! [8D]

Not being a programmer only a player of the games that you and the others produce I dont know what it takes to build that. However I would imagine it would be gargantuan at the very least to do. Anything I could do to assist I would. Not sure how I could contribute but I would leave that to whoever is working the project to decide.

I cant speak for the industry but I can say that for me the games that held my interest the most and were the most enjoyable were game of that sort. Like Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe from way back when. Remember the Old Battle of Britain back in the old 286 days? I also ran Carriers at War back on my Apple II E and then on my 386 with the remake. Now the Matrix version is awesome. That is one I always wanted to see built out as well. There was another game called Wolfpack way back in the 386 days, that was a great game where you could run the convoy ships, the Destoryer escorts or the Wolfpack subs. That was a lot of fun. Many others. Dont have a clue about the market for them only what I like. However I dont think my tastes are too far out on the fringe.

Anyways, building BTR out would be the ultimate IMHO. [8D]
