Too lazy to burn a copy.Besides, I wanted the nice artwork the disc came in, so I always buy the download AND the disc in it's game case.

I've gained the opposite impression. I wonder how many beta testers there actually are?

There is a project team list in the "GENERAL" thread above - but here is the latest and greatest team list - no reason for it to be a secret. We have had a few other "beta testers" over the past year - but for those that dropped out over several months ago - not all those names are shown. Also note that our project team organization is a bit different than a typical "computer game. We have teams. These teams are led by a "functional SME" (Subject Matter expert) and then each team is assigned a programmer to implement the decisions of that team in the code. The teams are also responsible for their own research and data entry. The air team also did their air art - and the naval team had kind of a separate ship art team. But the "designers" are the teams - and the team leads make the final call as to the priorities on the teams. Each team used to have at least one "unit tester" though as we have started doing weekly builds these persons have migrated to other responsibilities. And then also I would say that EVERYONE on the team participates in testing, not just the "test team" ... so this whole list is the "beta testers" ...

I agree as well. There's more of a Caveat Emptor. If the boys at AGEOD had followed that route when they released WWI, they might have avoided some big messes.

I can wait. I've already earmarked my gaming money for AE and MWIF. I don't know how I'm going to earmark my time though ;-D

Matrix games should host an open beta for the game for those who buy it in advance. Stardock does it with all(?) of their games.
I completely agree with you, Zakhal. Stardock charges you to play the open beta, and people are MORE tolerant of bugs because they know it's still a beta. It results in far more testing than any dev or QA team can possibly do on its own. When a Stardock game finally "releases," paid-beta customers simply get the patched game for free. It's win-win -- the dev team gets more money and testers up front, and customers get the game earlier.

I hope these guys are writing the idiots guide to Japanese economy & production because, I'm not sure I ever completely understood the model in witp and the one I've seen the AAR of AE looks to be way way over my head!
