Very nice!

Outstanding work, Rowlf! Do you also have modified Allied interface screens that have a similar 3D look to your Japanese screens? I downloaded and am trying out all your mods now and I'm quite pleased with them, look forward to trying out your "total conversion" when you get to finishing this up. :)

i really love these new maps however, is it just me or do the seas seem very pixilated? Is it possible to clean these up?

What do you mean exactly? I've been looking at them too long to be able to judge (methinks). I do notice that there is a banding around the land (which happens when I mash everything back down to a single layer). I will be trying something to improve on that, but I'm not sure it will do anything worthwhile.

The jpg versions are available. I haven't yet gotten the bmp versions uploaded to the webserver yet.

Modified the post at the beginning of this thread and added the new stuff there as well.

Rowlf, the artworkk is excellent.

To prolong the game what is really needed is a new map.

I would hope to play the long campaign, twice from each side H2H and thats it.

If there were a brand new map I would again play the long campaign twice from each side H2H.

Great job!

bmp versions available

Post by Supervisor »

Just to let you know that the bmp versions of all mods are now available (again, thanks to Oleg).

These include the new common combat screens, the allied screens, a couple of slight combat summary variations and the toned-down reef versions of the maps.

location changes?

Post by Michael Walker »

Hi, I'm very interested in using these mods, but I'm concerned about your comment that Australia was moved south and that various small islands were moved aroung. How far south did it go? As it stands, LBA is stretched to support Port Moresby, I can see where this might really affect the outcome of the game. I'm less concerned about the islands as its indicated that they are small -- I'm assuming that they aren't ones in play.

Can anyone comment on this?

Thanks,

Mike

Approximately 20 miles (at most).

Otherwise, they line up pretty well. I'm not sure where the difference came in. It's probably a difference caused by the map projection that was originally used vs. the projection used on the satellite photo. Anytime that you go from spherical to flat, there is distortion caused by the projection. And when you are comparing two separate projections, distortions can be compounded.

Original maps with shallows

Post by Supervisor »

I have added copies of the original maps with the shallows added (same as I did with the modified maps). Currently just the jpgs, the bmps will be added as they can.

I also found a couple of small glitches on my other maps which are currently on the webserver. I fixed them, but the bmp versions will be updated about the same time that the new maps are added.

Is there still a demand for the jpg versions?

Post by Supervisor »

If not, then I will remove them (as the bmp versions become available online) and thus free up space on my homepage. If there is still demand out there for them, I will see about getting them loaded onto the server where the bmp's are being stored.

Let me know (email or posts), so that I can get an idea about their usefulness. All depends on download time, I would say.

Original map with shallows bmp version now up...

Post by Supervisor »

Ok. All bmp version files are now up and updated. I removed the jpg versions of the maps, which had the most problems with quality (that hexgrid doesn't take reduction well :)).

Rowlf,

A few questions.

1/ where do you get the time?

2/ have you or are you going to put these on spookys webpage?

3/ has matrix asked you to join the team for WiTP? ( They should be!).

I can answer for the 2) :)

Yes, I will update the site this afternoon with all these new data. However, I would like to thank Oleg who provides the space disk (and the bandwidth) for these files

Unemployed, unmarried, new to area, no life, etc.

Nope. (Of course, since they aren't exactly on a full time payroll for the company themselves, it probably explains why they aren't hiring. :D)

Well, they've re-done the SubCombat screens, so I've updated them to the 3D look. :D

Map(s) corrected slightly...

Post by Supervisor »

» When a base is built at Dobadura, the text overlapped some of the icons.

Moved the text to the side so it should be out of the way.

» Island south of Luganville showed solid, yet ships can go through.

Split the island to emphasize the shallow water passage through it. It will help keep confusion from developing. :D

FYI...

Just to let you know that there won't be any changes to these for quite awhile. I've gotten busy. :D

They are also available at Spooky's UV site
