RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
This is great news but Tripoli is a sucky place to have them come in. Not only is it on the extreme opposite end of the map from where the front actually is, but there is not sufficient transport in Tripoli to get them on the NA continent. In additoin, random British naval raids occur on Tripoli which have the potential of destroying what little transport I have.

ORIGINAL: RufusTFirefly
My first game was Allied General of the SSI Panzer General series. It started with the North African campaign. Still remember the sound that was displayed when I clicked on a group of Matildas and moved them for the first time. Great!
Jeffrey, if you like to fight a human opponent, I will be ready for a game.
Hrrm, that could be real fun I think. Lets get our hands on Grymme's promised update and give it a try.

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
Updates of all three scenario files are ready and available for anyone who has the scenarios. Do you have the scenario and want an update, just send me an email/PM. A workaround for the supplybug in the 30A settoro bug iin your current game is that the bug is actually in the OASIS production. Apparently the system doesnt let there be 2 types of supply. So ship in supply from somewhere else and set the oasis production to PPs or to camels.

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
I've stopped playing this scenario for the time being and I'm focusing on a PBEM game in ATG with Rufus.
I chose the allied side and it's proving to be a fun scenario. I think I've found a few bugs though:
1. Alexandria can build normal units, (full range of first tier weapons) is this W.A.D ?
2. It's seems as though rail movement is not working correctly. The HQ has loads of trains and there are rail lines from A to B but the game doesn't recognize them as such. I think rail is broken.
[Edit]
Rail seems to be working ok. But these railroad engineer guys don't seem to be capable of building railroads. What are they for ?

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
Glad that you are enjoying the scenario. Werent you going to play DAK PBEM, but maybe those plans got scrapped.
As for your questions
1) I am not sure i understand what you mean with full tier weapons, but some cities have normal production (Alexandria, Port Said, Suez and Cairo i believe on the allied side). This is intentional in addition to the historic reinforcements.
2) It is not possible to build railroads in this scenario, only roads. Basicly railroad engineers work like most other engineers (they can repair railroad bridges ). But this should have been clarified in the briefing. The only reason they are in there is because they were in the boardgame the scenario is modeled afterk

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
I am in a PBEM game with Rufus. The scenario is definetely better vs. human. Anyone reading this, I totally recommend this one if you are even a tiny bit interested in North Africa.
I think you've answered my questions. One more observation:
The initial screens that show the status of the garrison requirements are seen by both regimes, I think. At least I know that as allied vs. human, I see the Italian status and as Axis vs. comp., I saw the British. Was this intended ?

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
Jeff. Its not a bug as such. But i can see a good argument for why only the side affected should
see the messages. Ill put it on the to do list in case there are more things i want to update it with.

Paypal is pretty straightforward I think. I use a cc and it's just a billing service that turns around and puts a charge on my cc. Lots of phishing scams with it though.
I would not give it acces to any of my bank accounts.

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
I am now in turn 15 or so of a PBEM game as Allied. The game is working almost purely historical, very interesting. One thing that has come up, is the British ships available to the Allied player. I found them quite useful and unfortunately decided to send them across the map to mess up the supply chain from Tripoli to the main land. We found this situation to be too ugly and decided on a 'house rule' to limit the British ships to no further West than the edge of Map B. My question to you is, what do you think of this house rule and was it your intent to allow the British ships to roam all the way to Tripoli ?

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
I'm thinking there is a bug in the sandstorm routine, where it decides thejuncture between map d and map e is. I have some units in E that suffered no loss and some units in d that did. This was for a sandstorm in map e.

Jeffrey.
I will look into the sandstorm thing.
As for the ship thing. I have no objection to house rules. My thinking was that this would be a risky strategy because the ships can be bombed and killed by artillery/airplanes. And if i remember correctly there is no way to buy new warships in DAK so loosing them would be loosing quite and important tool as the allied player.
Glad you are enjoing the scenario. Are you still playing PBEM and what turn are you in, what has happened?

RE: Grymme's DAK Scenario
The ships have taken some severe abuse from aircraft. I only have one left. They are not that useful. I was using them as scouts essentially. As the Allies, I fell back initially to Mersuh Metruh and took the offensive from there. I ran West all the way to Tobruk and stopped to reorganize. The rail line ends about there. The Germans then came into it and I decided to stay put. I don't know what my victory conditions are, perhaps I should have been more aggressive.
I've been using my production for various things, combat units, aircraft, locomotives and of course supply. I'm more or less at the limit of what I can supply in terms of forces. I almost cringe a little when reenforcements come in because I have to feed them. I'm also short of HQ capacity and in order to get more staff I have to sacrifice either the aircraft or supply. Neither of which I want to do.
The revitalized German and Italians have sent their scouts into my forces around Tobruk so we are about to close for fight for that area. The FOW works very well in this one, I don't know where his units are, and he doesn't know where mine are. I shuffle them around after they get discovered to avoid being hit from the air.
Well have to see what happens after the "second" battle for Tobruk.
