Rum and coke used to be my poison. I could tap out a bottle of Captain Morgan over the course of a weekend. Jack and coke as well... but a few years of that and my liver had enough and filed for divorce. It took a lot of bribes and a fair share of chocolates and flowers to convince her to come back. Now we sit quietly on the porch and have threesomes with Sam Adams. Captain Morgan was last seen throwing love letter filled bottles into the ocean as he sailed away.

My pirate days are over, alas.

We have a coffee machine which grounds the coffee beans just before making the coffee, so I drink a few mugs of fresh coffee whilst "working" at my pc. In the evenings I drink what they call here Malzbier, a maltbeer with no alcohol, is sometimes called a Kinderbier or childrens-beer. I like the taste. The choices can vary between a sweeter version or a much herber stronger malt version.

I used to drink a few cokes in the evening after work, but as I put on too much weight, I decided to kick the habit. Now I drink maybe a glass per month.

Usually just keep ice water around sometimes soda. But for something with a little bite, I enjoy sipping Jack Daniels whiskey when I get into a long reading session online or when I play a game that gives you lots of time to ponder your moves.

We get free soft drinks in the office. So I spend my day with Club Mate (do you have this in the US?) and enjoy a beer or two at night while playing games.

They must be selling really well, because at first they were only released as a limited time special. Several stores around here now carry at least a few cases at all times. I've made a few converts myself. One thing I noticed is that when people are accustomed to anything for long enough, they get used to it. Several people I've had try Throwback actually said it tasted like a diet drink! That's the insidious power that corn syrup has on the taste buds. It makes even sugar look tame by comparison. But give it time and your taste buds will remember. Then it's just a matter of enjoying a little nostalgia in a can.

I wish Coke would be more apt to do it like Pepsi does. There's Mexican Coke which has sugar, but it is insanely expensive to order and ship in.

I have introduced "Throwback" to some 20 somethings and they are stunned at how much better the drinks are with pure cane sugar. I told them the health nut Nazi's pressured the soda makers to switch. Ahhhh, the gold ole' days.

Meh.

Most of the Pepsi blind taste tests I've seen have a preference for the HFCS versions. Fructose instead of sucrose-big deal-the body treats it as sugar. The sugar cane (read: sucrose) versions of the soda are now widely available too-they're not rare.

Right now it's just lemonade but in about 30 minutes it's going to be lemonade with a dose of Crown Royal Maple in it.

Coffee with honey and creamer, ice water, Big Red soda, and vodka (all brands), but favorite is Ketel One.

Coffee please, no sugar (sugar = [:@] ) and a drop of milk. Aaaand whiskey, every day and only after 10 pm... never ever before that, and *only* 1-2 glasses. Liquor is a dangerous mistress.. (I'm with you KGerwin)
Speaking of... I recently discovered an american whiskey which proved to be excellent for it's price.
Buffalo Trace, very much recommended.
