RE: I hate my dice
Here's something that makes it even worse in a computer game. The computer uses a "pseudo"-random number generator. This means that although nobody knows what the next die roll will be, they are all pre-ordained! So the order that you cause die rolls to be generated means that if you hadn't done certain things before certain other things, then the rolls for them would have been the rolls for the other...

Check this one from WiF School: tm.asp?m=3509358
There may be others there along the same line - look for the two threads about minimal and maximum option rule choices as well
Thanks Paul. I'm definitely giving it a try, as I'm kind of sick of this series of horrible Barbarossas... no one says I will play better with 2D10 though!

OK, so my first time playing with the 2d10 CRT and my first land combat. It's an assault at +15 and I roll a 3!

RE: I hate my dice
Those were some awful rolls. The 6 factor Stuka should have been firing for 2's. what is crazy is that even if you were rolling for 4's you would have missed on all of the rolls. The odds of rolling that many 5's and above is pretty staggering!
I love the 2D10 table. I find the rolls average out well and I really like the roll distribution. 1d10 just sees so extreme from one result to the next.

Odds are 0.19% or ~ 1:500. Could have been PH ground strikes.. not really troublesome on Leningrad imoh.

It's a good thing then that I got that 1 out of 50 chance out of my way on the first roll. It works that way doesn't it. [;)]ORIGINAL: paulderynck
Clearly you have 49 more +15s before that will happen again!

Going to share a real secret here: take care your dice rest showing the result you want to roll while idle!! This is knowing as "charging the dice" to the initiated!

Not as bad as the OP, but still bad.

Well it is rain. Tac factors halved, round up. Net chances of a hit are 63.1%. So not obtusely unlucky.

RE: I hate my dice
I hadn't calculated the odds so 37% of not getting a flip isn't all that surprising. It just felt bad because of the 5 dice rolls [;)]ORIGINAL: paulderynck

When I finally get around to posting it in my AAR, I'll share the Allied groundstrike on Paris. It was baaaaad.

RE: I hate my dice
O.K. ... I've started another global war scenario with very aggressive plans by both sides from the start. Japan plans to attack the USSR in order to get Vladivostok and the 3 resources in Kamchatka. The CW and French plan an early DOW on Italy in order to conquer Eritrea and Ethiopia. The Germans planned to allow the USSR claim on Bessarabia but deny the claims by Hungary and Bulgaria and then turn around and DOW and invade both. All this was planned for Sep/Oct '39. Guess what ... I got two consecutive modified weather rolls of 10 (actually unmodified rolls of 10 & 8) for the two impulse pairs following the first. In effect, shutting everything down after the initial impulse. I'm glad this was solitaire and not against a live opponent. Needless to say I'm stopping this game and will restart a second one. In retrospect I guess the storms were appropriate as we got over 5 inches of rain yesterday, on Christmas day. [8D]

82.4% chance of disorganizing at least one unit.ORIGINAL: Zartacla

Still, the 5+ on every roll was really strange.

Since an 82.4% chance of disorganizing at least one unit equals a 17.6% chance of disorganizing none then the net result doesn't surprise me. That is, you'd get no units disorganized approximately 1 out of 6 times. Unlikely but definite not rare as anyone who's ever played AH's 3rd Reich and rolled a 5 on a 1:1 odds attack knows.ORIGINAL: Shannon V. OKeets

However, now that you mentioned no roll was less than 5, that is odd indeed. Before the rolls, of course, the chance of rolling 5 or higher on all 12 rolls would be 0.6^12 = 0.0022 or 0.22% chance. That's almost 1 out 500, which I would think is rare indeed.

Once I was in the room (not playing) where a game of Titan was being played. Someone attacked a Cyclops with one hit point left with a Centaur and a Ranger. That person accidentally picked up eight dice, when he should have picked up seven. He needed anything but a one to hit. He rolled eight ones on eight dice. One chance in 1 and 2/3rds million.
Now that is bad luck!

Not so unlucky at all really. It's Snow and the hex is woods. The bombers are quartered. So two hit on ones and one hits on twos.ORIGINAL: rkr1958

My calculator says:
Miss completely: 17.6%
Hit 1: 38.3%
Hit 2: 31.2%
Hit 3: 11.3%
Hit all 4: 1.5%
(Adds to 99.9% due to rounding.)

Do you sing little songs/ryhmes for each of the Titan creatures? It is something of a requirement for us. I don't get to play it often, but when we do it gets pretty epic with lots of beer and snacks.

Well that's a shame.
Dice shaking and movement to the tune of "I'm a troll, I'm a troll I'm a big big troll and I'm going to beat you up!" or "I wanna be an airbourne Ranger and live a life of fun and danger" definitely adds some charm to the game.
