If you envisage MWIF as a woman, who was charmed by your first courtmaking but has recently heard your comments when you saw her without make-up, it might give you an explanation.

This is not a joke. This has realy happened.
The state of Oklahoma did a study of users and computers. They found that Users that hate their computers have more problems with their computers.

RE: I hate my dice
The odds of getting a hit on something are not as good as perhaps one may think considering the bombers are effectively quartered (swamp counts as forest in snow and snow also halves aircraft factors). Still, you would think a "1" would pop up there some place in that mess.
This can highlight one of the frustrating factors of WiF and that is the role of just how critical the dice can be at critical points, be it an assault on Leningrad, Gibraltar, etc or the weather is another good one. End of turn can sort of be tossed in there as well depending on other factors.

Well. In one of my first test games of MWIF, I made two attacks with the USSR into Bessarabia, using the 2D10 table and rolled... two "2"'s.
I was not amused...

Yup... for me for some reason switching from the d6 to d10 was the death of me in WiF.. never really lost a game up til then.. after that it was ya... not so good.
My first game as germany using the new d10 system saw us call the game in 42 as I couldn't take paris..[X(]
And don't talk to me about naval combat... it got to the point in one game me Japan:.. pst hey yank i'll be off the coast of midway next impulse.. Yank: ok see you there... and we still never had a naval combat for 6 months

What drives me crazy is when I have a 7-1 attack lined up and roll a "20". The hot dice always show up when you need them the least.

Ain't that the truth.

I still managed to take Leningrad. Had already spent the O Chit on Manstein, moved on to the ice, dropped paratroops, the fleet was already in the Baltic for shore bombardment, had the 2 factor engineers... It was a +13 attack even without flipping anything and yup, rolled a 20.

That's poetic. [:D]
Where's the "20" roll when you have to take those iffy 3-1s odds? [8|]

Back in the day before MWiF. We never rolled the die for an auto victory.

Only playing Vassal, but as the U.S., I missed 4 DoW rolls in a row, 40%, 50%, 70%, and 60% respectively. Irked. Very irked. (Especially since the 50% chance would have let me smack his carriers with my battleships and hopefully sink a bunch on the surprise impulse)

RE: I hate my dice
Completely agree. How come I get something between 1-3 every time I have a combat involving +8 units?
And then... you get the 10 in a 7:1 blitzkrieg...
I'm trying to find the "1D10 vs 2D10" discussion in the forum (I'm sure there's a thread about that) but I can't. Any clue?

Check this one from WiF School: tm.asp?m=3509358
There may be others there along the same line - look for the two threads about minimal and maximum option rule choices as well

What is worse is when you get the right dice throws - but in the wrong order. How many times have you thrown high dice trying to ground strike, and thus not hitting anything, and then low dice when resolving combat in the same hex? [:(]

Yes! In my current game, the Axis made a port strike, and the CW made two 10's on their damage rolls. The fact that this saved some Allied ships was mildly annoying to the Axis. What was far worse was that the Axis was convinced that those two rolls were the rolls that should have been used reserved for the attack on Gibraltar. [:)]
(Although the fact that sometimes you want to roll high and sometimes you want to roll low is a deliberate feature of the game.)

I thought I knew how to play this game....
