So who's happy with their purchase?

I normally grow bored of games with in two weeks (if that) apart from a select few which are the ones that never leave my hard drive. I was testing this for more than two weeks and I still enthuse about it. SO it's going to be a another permanent install which on my PC is a very exclusive club.

Very good game. Love the decisions and role playing elements. Only problem is that I know it's going to end in early 42 even though I'm not even two months in. I hope they extend the time period with an expansion. One for every additional year [:D]

Quite happy too. A great game and it requires you to think hard - no easy walking over the AI. Even after having pocketed quite some Russians by August I was facing 3 hex deep Russian front lines. Especially in the center.

Loving it though I now wish I had enough $ at the time to purchase the box version so I could get the hard copy manual. Maybe that will be an option later?

Do hope for more command decision focused games like this that encompass other time frames and even other theaters. So much more than 99 per cent of other war games I've played. It is genius to actually put you in the shoes of the historical figures for a few minutes.

I think it depends on your taste. Clearly many like the concept. For myself, whilst enjoying it, the map and the unit size really detract from the immersion. A company level iteration (or even regiment) would be great. But I think the map is so important for me that a mod which just put more detail in would solve a lot for me. Every single hex has a town in it, more or less. I would like to see them. Ditto the roads. I would like to see someone looking at the real world map and trying to represent it properly. I don't really understand why the map is so basic. The same thing put me off DC:CB, which I also, nevertheless, bought.

Aside from that I'm slowly getting into it. But it doesn't honestly seem that different from WitE, for example, to me, in game play terms, at the basic level where it runs (shifting counters). I've yet to see the AI do anything impressive, but it's very early days for me. I'm still hoping.

Sorry, all this raving about it makes me feel cynical. My glass is always half empty.

Only played a few turns so far but looks a great game - challenging, novel and well constructed with plenty of depth. Was exploring the Stats section earlier which is packed full of stuff including the battle reports.

This is an epic game. I have bought and played all of VR's games (except the first DC game) and really like the play mechanics. The game is superb simulating the first phase of the war in Russia, and I really hope that the war can continue with mods from others.

So far i am really enjoying it. Full disclaimer I am a DC fanboy, having loved DC: Warsaw to Paris (my favorite) and Case Blue. I am really hoping for a map mod as for me this is a weak point...lacking detail and far to bland for my taste. The other thing important to me is the AI, which I cannot comment on yet as I have not played enough (fingers crossed). I was worried and excited at the same time about the decisions and personal relationship mechanics, but have been pleasantly surprised that it is enjoyable and not over powering. Now, just waiting for more time to play and on that map mod...
