Gee, David, I really hope the target audience for Combat Leader is NOT a 14" monochrome monitor probably running DOS with 8 meg of RAM :;....Man, you guys at Matrix are great to be able to address all the techno-hardware issues around!Originally posted by David Heath:
Hi Ryan
We never said it was a perfect game ( it never will be that ) we said it was the Steel Panthers available.
Wait for Combat Leader and lets see what we do there.

Will there be switches in the game to allow people to play on DOS, Win95, Win2k, WinXP,Linux?? How about a Mac? And how about all of us FORTRAN users? Will there be a Commodore 64 version?
Ryan, pick through your local dump and you'll probably get your choice of at least a dozen or so 15 inch monitors...listen to some of the advice listed above...like buying a 17 inch for under a hundred bucks....
I've seen my share of whining on these forums, but frankly this takes the cake......
Out,
Joss

Cripes a' mighty! I really feel left out! I've been playing my games on a 13" monitor for almost 4 years now. Everything, EVERYTHING, runs and looks great. Maybe because I'm a long time wargamer of the board format and I'm apparently not as spoiled as some others in the hardware dept.
BTW, Ryan "Crier", the shot at Pop Top vis a vis Railroad Tycoon 2 is where you lost me. RRT2 is one of my all time favorite games. My 13" monitor runs just fine in 1024x768 and RRT2 is quite possibly one of the best looking RTS's ever. So, kwicherbitchin' scrape up a few buks and get another monitor.
You lament at not being able to play a 30 turn game in 30 min. tells me you're not an "old school" gamer such as myself and others on this forum. If the average game in SPW@W lasted only 30 min. I would be playing something else entirely. That's one of the beauties of turn based computer gaming. You don't have to play it all in one sitting.(IMHO)
So, relax and enjoy. If that fails, I have one word for you. Valium.

It is unacceptable. The standard of marksmanship is execrable. I'm ordering every thug, gangsta, punk, drunken sot, and hooligan in America to take two hours of range time a day until the fatal/non-fatal rate is brought up to 1-1.

You replied "there won't be another major version"
And now, I see you've released V 6.1!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a grip. Its a vast and wonderful game. More zoom might be nice, but in the short term; PROZAC. 40mg should make that zoom craving
go far away.

what can i say...
Actually i was also liking the 640x480 view of SP, had trouble with the 800x600 at first, but now it's ok.
Maybe you should try SPWW2 i think it's still 640x480
Oh does anyone know if the viewing help in windows works over WaW ? You know, this sort of software magnifying glass that you can install in windows for people that have eye trouble ? Maybe it would do the thing ?

What kind of clickfest are you playing? Even with a couple of dozen units I couldn't see cutting turns down to 1 min each. Shades of wham, bam, thank you ...Originally posted by Ryan Crierie:
In SPO (Steel Panthers Original), you could
turn off virtually all the animations so you
could fight a 30 turn battle in about 30 minutes,
making the game accessible to those with not
a lot of time on their hands.

I would rather play a quality game than just spend 30 min playing something to be done with it.
If you really want a fast game, there is always TA where you can flash rush and have the game over in 5 min.
thanks, John.
