Hi, Jeez don't get me started. In my very first PBEM game the very first action of the war (before the Pearl strike even) was a Dutch (or maybe RN) submarine sinking one of my Kongo class BB. The next action of the war was another sub (Dutch or USN) sinking one of the CS off Menado. And then still at night another Allied sub sank a fully loaded (with troops) 4.5k AP off Songkaria.
Since then it is a long list of major ships sunk or damaged by enemy submarines.
Of course on my side I think I saw a USN CV once before the submarine was blown out of the water by DC. I think I might have hit a few CA from time to time.
I've had POW sunk by Japanese subs. (when I was allied of course)

i had some success. In my very first PBEM i put torpedo in US CV near Noumea.

I can be satisfied with my sub force in my PBEM against String. I used them as a secondary weapon (chasing damaged capital ships - learned from PzB!) and finished damaged BC Repulse. Also damaged West Wirginia (i think) on her voyage to the West Coast was hit with 3 torps, but i'm not sure if she sink.

I scuttled WW, check the intel screen [8D] Also the jap ASW has been murderous and my subs have little to show [:o]

Sank Nevada and Arizona fleeing from PH towards West Coast. They passed over a string of subs on the way out, took a torp or two in each hex, then tried to return to Pearl, eating more torps from the same subs and finally went down two hexes short of PH.[:D]

I never sank an undamaged enemy capital ship with subs. I recently lost an undamaged BB to a sub-laid Mk 10 mine, that probably hit a magasine...

You seem to forget that in that same game (me being on the receiving end) you also damaged another CV and sunk a BB Maryland (damaged in PH on the way back to the West coast).

does playing against the AI count?

I hit the Akagi with 2 torps from an S-boat off PM late May 42, She was slowed down sufficiently that i got my 8" CAs to intercept near Woodlark Is and sink her with 50+ shells[:D][:D].

And the S-boat didn't make it, the escorting DDs made short work of her [:(]

Pity the AI didn't put up more of a fight - the rest of KB just up and ran away....

In the current game a dutch Submarine managed to put two torpedos into one the Japanese CVL's off Java, that was a week or 2 ago in game time, still no report it sank. 3 times my dutch aircraft ( once with a slew of american P-40s have managed to get a few torpedo and LB through Cap and attack the regular CV, never scored a hit.

But the CVL I put two torpedos in had been damaged by Dutch aircraft twice before the sub fired.

American sub managed to fire on one Japanese BB , they never hit or were duds.

As for lost submarines, the Americans lost 2 boats ( both started in Manila) and one Dutch boat ( of course it was one of the minelayers) I have been unable to sink any Japanese submarines with ASW task forces ( I dont put more than 4 , well occasionally 6) ships in ASW task forvce ( usually 3 DD or 4 PG/MSW) I did manage to sink one I boat with ASW aircraft from Australia. Not a direct sinking, it sank a couple days later headed for home.

It is now very late February 42.

I'm into October 42 in the CHS as Allied and the allied subs are ripping through a whack of merchies but have managed only one hit on anything bigger than a DD...CA Tone took 1 Mk 14.

Incidently, the IJN has lost 33 subs and counting to 5 Allied (2 US, 3 Dutch), despite the armor and reduced accuracy and explosive yield of the ASW weapons in the mod. This has more to do with the horrible AI and its habit of ramming the subs into the Townsville gap than the gang bang issue...the coast is so thick with them encounters are a daily occurance.
