Thankfully no sync issue this turn. I swear there is no rhyme nor reason to it.

Thankfully KB did not hit PH again. The destruction Tony did was massive as no fighters were left and many ships were torped and flooding. All ships had ops expenditures of 1000 so I was not going to try an evac the undamaged fast warships as they would be sitting ducks. Remeber the Allied damcon is off so some of the more badly damaged ships are hanging in the balance and a second attack may have been catastrophic.

Well, we are gradually moving along. Poor Tony is having a fit with some issues caused by the leader bug. I'll let him tell you because I don't know just how p----d off he is.[;)] These have been some action packed turns...thank gawd something pops up once in awhile which isn't a sub sighting![:D] At least a hundred subs sighted by air assets today...LOL. Laadeedum.

The RAF and RAAF are doing sterling work plastering the Singora Roads anchorage. No Kota Bahru landings yet but the PI jobs are proceeding along historical timelines.

More intense action, and mainly bad news for the good guys. Good thing I am a sadist. Very good example of the CAP vs default uncoordinated strike vs TFs and LCUs this turn. One must assume that the Victoria Point Blenheims all took off as a squadron, yet because different TFs are in the hex, the split BEFORE CAP resolution and are treated as uncoordinated by default. Same shit happens vs multiple ground targets. Poor design.

I believe you are playing the Allies, aren't you Ron? That would make you a masochist (likes being hurt), not a sadist (likes inflicting pain).

Oh, and I love how the PT boats, which one would assume would be trying to protect their own shipping, wait until the pair of IJN destroyers sink all the freighters before engaging. [8|]

Yeah! Notice during replay was they were reacting to the Japanese incursion yet somehow managed to get surprised! The combat routines are wanting to say the least. All verbal fluff and no cause/effect relationships at all. All leader based (wrongly...technology, weather, experience etc should count more and one individuals ratings...is this a boxing match or complicated interaction of human pros/cons), which of course is blown out of all sense with leaders disappearing and replacements with 0/0 values showing up at every opportunity.[X(]

Even Japanese ones who eat the vaunted Okinawan diet are croaking on every bridge. Tony swears the invasion of the dot base, Tag something or other just north of Cagayan was a result of a leader bug...TF switched orders! Hmmm...I'd normally say bollocks, you moused the wrong destination point, but with this game anything is believable.[8D]

Notice all those troop loss counts as the IJN DDs went nuts at Cagayan? Phillipino troops! Reminds me of multiple ferry disasters, what?

Maybe not. There was a thread a long time back saying that troops lost on ships never showed up in the VP count. AFAIK, this was never resolved.

Just thought i'd give you a bit more to get excited about.[:'(]

Oh, wow, that's what happenned? OK, makes sense. Dots or even land present in a hex selected as a destination, despite Do Not Unload orders will start to unload. Really annoying!!![:@] I was playing a game vs 2ndACR and was shipping a couple of base units from Sydney to Derby and selected a "waypoint" on the NW coast of OZ (otherwise the useless AI would have routed the convoy NE into harms way) Unfortunately the hex I selected was a coastal hex and when the convoy got there it unloaded the poor bastards on some malarial infested section of equatorial Oz then continued on to the home base. I was not very attentive until I noticed the aircraft falling into disrepair. Most of the unit was lost to disruption and disease by the time I found them and picked them up.

That is interesting, especially in light of the fact that when a transport TF reaches its destination, and that destination is a port, and it is set for "unload", half the time when you check it it is not "unloading", it is "idle".

I've had pretty good luck with this as long as it is NOT the home port of the TF. If it is, they sit idle. So usually i try to check on the convoy just as it is getting back to port, then turn off the "do not unload" and switch the home port to somewhere in the general direction of where i want the ships to go next.

I probably have been setting destinations as home ports; in this game the lieutenants that are now OIC of most of my transport TFs have displayed a tendency to want to head to their home ports rather than to the destination I had given them. I'll have to keep that in mind.

The action continues at a feverish pace. The RAF and RAAF units in Malaya have been surprisingly effective attacking shipping off Singora. By not attacking Kota Bahru Irrelevant has left Force Z with nothing to do but guzzle Pink Gins and bang the locals while in port.

The air ASW model continues to be irksome. Subs have been hit by air attacks every turn since Dec 7th and I believe I am about to lose a third sub to this nonsense. About 90% of all Allied subs are being spotted each phase. Hellooooo, subs generally stay submerged during daylight in enemy waters.[8|]

But, Ron [X(]! Surely you knew that submerging a sub without sinking it was a highly complex and demanding job that took hours to accomplish and could only be performed by the most experienced crews trained specifically in the process.

By not attacking Kota Bahru Irrelevant has left Force Z with nothing to do but guzzle Pink Gins and bang the locals while in port.
Precisely my intention.[:)]

RE: Irrelevant (Tony S) vs Impertinent (Ron S): Farting around...

Post by Ron Saueracker »

Sort of a bread and butter kind of day. Not too much out of the ordinary except......those darn recon boys can find a sub, every sub in their sector, every day but can they get an ID right? Nope. Those two forlorn gunboats, one RN one USN) got cocky and decided to play with a two AKs at Kowloon. Supplise! (spelling wrong for effect![:D]) Japanese CL Isuzu is the AK identified yesterday, or may not have been spotted at all...it is not one of those easily seen subs don't ya know! Poor gin drinkers...Cicala got a 6" PENETRATING HIT ON ISUZU BUT THAT WAS IT.[:(]
