The closest I have gotten to Finland was in the early 90's when I spent a weekend in Bergen, Norway visiting the fjords (they spoke more of an American English than British English).
I am pretty good in geography due to my addiction to WWII for over 35 years. [&o]
Since Finland was not a big player in the war, I'm not that good at locating places. I had a board game of the eastern front that included Finland, but that game is long gone.

Definately 3 cheers to AB ! .. I havnt dabbed my toe in CHS yet , but when i have moved and gotten myself sorted out in a few months I'll be Aztez next victim so Sadukar i have 2 reasons for cheering you on

1) I want to see how japan works in CHS

2) I'm British so i support the confederacy as a matter of course [;)].

Now im confused .. support sadukar or Aztez ! .. ok i'll cheer on both in the hopes you huys have a great game . and Aztez beware as in no time at all you will be facing a completely differant japanese approach , It's called the 'no clue' approach to japanese imperial expansion [:D][:D][:D][:D]
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

It is actually same here as in Norway. American english is much more comming British english. [:)]

The Eastern front battles were not huge in scale of Pacific or Central Europe but we did have some "diffrences" with the Russians in 1940's. Actually two wars. (First was Winter War 1940-1941 which was actually fought without any help. ) The russians actually had horrific lossess during these battles. Oh, and as for agreement of peace in WW2 we had push the Germans to Norway. So, quite a lot action and thankfully this country was never actually conquered during those dark years.

Hmpf, Rob. As said we will clash when you get everything settled [:)] ...The "no clue" plan might actually be very dangerous ---> neither side will not know what the h**l is happening turn after turn!!! PBEM Kamikaze Rob [:D][:D][:D]

I played a bit of Scen 160 as IJ now to get a clue about IJN/IJA and production. I must say that I did get quite a task!! Esp in China it'll be like elephant trying to stomp billion ants to death. It'll grow tired and they'll eat it to bone !! [:'(][;)] It was bit depressing to see how meager means Japan has...and when playing Allies they seem invincible for first 2 years !! [:'(]

We'll start when AB releases scen 160 v.2.08.

I just thought I would include a map for Sardaukar so he can already study the geographical view of Sweden [;)]

I visited Abisko a few years ago. Very nice part of the world.

Information about my WitP map, and CHS, can be found on my WitP website

I have visited Stockholm, Umeå, Sundsvall and Önskoldsvik quite a few times.

There is quite a bit rivalry between Finland and Sweden. So, basically a proper punishment is the move to Sweden [:D] ...That is a huge punishment if you look like this way! [;)] Oh, and as Sardaukar said the beer in Sweden isn't exactly top quality so that would be an extra punishment by itself! [:D]

Thanks for the fix Andrew. Now when Sardaukar's gets chance to download the new fixed scenario I can start kicking his butt!!!

Just somewhat derogative slur against Fins who speak Swedish as their first language...the horror..the horror...[:D]

Quote was especially insulting sice them like to mix Finnish with their Swedish..[:'(] "Paatinpohja" is Finnish slang word, meaning "floor of the boat" or something like that. [:D] Aztez prolly speaks with things like "jättekiva" [:D][:D]

I will remember this... [:-] It will be "jättekiva" to have the allied victory parade on Tokyo in January 1943! [:D]

1st Turn is done so now we wait to see what Sardaukar is up to.

Personally, I decieded to try couple of new things compared to my other PBEM's.

It is very diffrent setup though but CHS team has done marvelous job. I don't think that this game has too many boring and peaceful moments. As said things are in motion now! [:)]

Yeah. Swedish is actually 2nd official language (most Swedish is spoken in West Coast and Southern Finland) here in Finland. It has been actually mandatory to study it in public schools. (Allthough it has just recently been changed)
I'am not a native speaker though but my grandma did not speak any Finnish. I pretty much understand the most of it but that is pretty much it. I guess though I could survive in Sweden easily but it is not me who has to move there once this game is finished! [:D][;)] Sardaukar is propably already looking the markets for new houses there since he has not run the combat replay yet! [;)]

You got it right. In 1495 Finland was a sandwich which was eaten either by Sweden or Russia. We got our independence in 1917 and have had our wars againts Russia twice since then! I guess that is why Finns are patriotic people since it has not always been easy to be alongside that sleeping giant! [:D]
