Hi, The Japanese plan is very simple. I'm going to capture the SRA and build a defense ring and then make Dan come and get me.  I'm not going to use any exploits. I'm going to practice what I preach and see if WITP can handle it and what results are produced.

I am forced into certain actions by the starting set up. (I can't break up the Death Star before I get to a port with escorts to form new Aircombat TF. After that I'm not going to place more then 2 CV/CVL in a TF and no more then 2 such TF in a single hex. )

Why limit yourself to this? I can understand not wanting to use deathstar tactics, but IRL the Japanese operated Car Divs 1,2 & 5 together and only ran into trouble when they didn't use them together. You could instead limit the CAP % to something like 30-50%. It would prevent or limit uber-cap and yet you'd still have the striking power of the real KB.

Not a criticism - I'm curious.

News of the day:  KB launched an all-out raid on Midway, hitting both port and airfield.  Could 'MI' be earmarked for the Japanese defense perimeter?
 
Odd thing about the strike, it was in the AM phase.  Thus those planes would not have been available for naval ops should I have been near.  An unnecessary risk, IMO.

I don't want to be argue the point, but there is no such thing as NO risk. Sure, the risk in this case would be hard to find with an electron microscope, but still...... I say nothing was gained by not using the secondary missions to pound MI. I only point this out for the benefit the kids who may be reading this. [;)]

I shall make a mental note of this dangerous tendency to over micro-manage a carrier strike, and use it to defeat you later in the game! [8D]

Hi, I wanted to increase the chance the strike was flown that day. what if bad weather had been over TF or target in afternoon? I was fairly certain my naval strke groups could handle any enemy CV because there has not been enough time to increase the USN fighter groups so no enemy strike would do much.

As I understand the game mechanics, and I could be wrong on this, primary missions rained out in the AM will not fly in the PM regardless of weather (except naval attack)...?

I cannot remeber ever seeing a primary port or AF attack executed in the PM.
