Report of September 17th, 1942

While enemy troops are continuing to land in Guadalcanal, 160 enemy bombers attacked again Lunga, destroying almost everything. [:(]

KB arrived today on the crime scene. Hornet left, but transport TF are still present in the Iron Bottom Bay.
170 Kate and Val, togheter with Betty and Nell coming from Rabaul, sunk 7 DD, 2 AP and 2 AK.
In the afternoon, one surface TF, that included BB Ise, 7 CA, 8 CL and 9 DD, completed the job, sinking 7 DD, 5 AP and 8 AK.
5000 enemy soldiers, of the 7th AUS Division and of the 27th US Division died in the water, most of them becoming food for the dozen sharks.
In the evening no more enemy transport troops were presents at Guadalcanal but a lot of allied infantry is already landed.
Two infantry units are transported by planes from Rabaul to reinforce the garrison.
I hope this will be enough.
