The farthest north we travel (aside from going to Canada to fish) is usually Kansas City to catch a Royals ballgame...we should put out some feelers.

Well Denver is near your neck of the woods.[:)]

12 year old single malt scotch UNP

My god man... Blended is the only descent scotch to drink! [:-]
Blended? What's the point? I'll go with the Limey on this one. Single malt is generally a better drink.

In fairness , blended does have it's uses. Wouldn't it break your heart to make a cocktail with a single malt?[&:][X(]

Have to figure part of it was due to Norman raping and pillaging. I guess it depends on which group of northern raiders founded them.

The Normans were just an over lay at the top, there was no mass Norman/French migration after 1066

Not to mention they were Viking not German stock.

And some of us still migrate![:D]

I never saw DC get a tornado!

DC already sucks. Why would it need more? [:'(]

DC has the ability to suck and blow at the same time. Maybe a tornado would "clean house". [:)]

Ever been playing a game and heard snickering in the background that you couldn't quite locate the source of? That's the dice gods laughing at you, and it's currently reaching ear-splitting levels in my Steel Wolves game. GOOD THREAD!!!

Silly sod Number 1 today:

Giving a talk at Durham University about his career, Russell Crowe admitted that he still had lots to learn.

The star of Gladiator told the students that he had turned down the role of Aragorn in The Lord of Rings because the film’s budget was under pressure and the producers wanted to pay him 10 per cent of the profits instead of an upfront fee.

So far, the film has made £565 million. “If I had taken that film, I wouldn’t be here,” he confessed.

Guten Tag, sehr esteemed readers! Und willkommen to today’s lesson. Perhaps Sie haben already mastered die so-called “Franglais”. Sie know – der mixture of Französisch und English. Well, jetzt it’s time for “Denglish” – ein cocktail of English and Deutsch.

Or at least it should be. In fact, an awful lot of us should be speaking Denglish already because, according to the Hamburg-based magazine Der Spiegel, about half the British population is basically German.

For many, this may be a bitter pill to swallow. Followers of the England football team will no longer be able to chant, “If it wasn’t for us Brits, You’d be Krauts” at French fans. Now they will have to sing, “If it wasn’t for us Brits, you would have remained under the domination of the German dictatorship, as opposed to being liberated by a genetically identical but politically emancipated people from across the Channel”. Much less catchy. It’s either that or, “If it wasn’t for us Krauts, you’d be Krauts”, which I’m guessing is not the message the angelic choristers on the England team’s terraces are after.

But there is no denying it. Once the Romans packed it in at the beginning of the 5th century, a wave of Germanic immigrants flooded these shores. Many, apparently, came without visas and the proper work permits. But they were carrying large swords.
