I've been moving my subs when they get detected and I'm putting them in likely sea lanes the Japs might use and I've been having good luck so far. Several Jap ships have been hit with American TT's.

AUS is very low on oil so I loaded up some tankers at Soerabaja with oil and it's on it's way to Geraldton where there is a rail line to Sydney for the oil to flow along on it's way to Melbourne and points east.

Geraldton is a small port and will not be able to dock those tankers. If one did dock, the rate of unloading would be very low. Go to Perth.

You're right Perth would be a much better port. Thanks for the heads up. I'll do it.

There's two Jap CVTF's in the Celebes area right now and I need to evacuate all my moveable ships out of their way so they don't get damaged or sunk. I have some Dutch bombers on Naval missions but I'm not hopeful they will get any hits at all. All the subs I have in that immediate area are chasing the southernmost Jap TF.

Ground combat at Wake Island (136,98)

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 138 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 3

Defending force 2883 troops, 88 guns, 22 vehicles, Assault Value = 68

Assault collapses, survivors seek cover

Japanese ground losses:
121 casualties reported
Squads: 16 destroyed, 0 disabled
Non Combat: 9 destroyed, 0 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Units destroyed 1

Assaulting units:
Maizuru 2nd SNLF
Guards Mixed Bde /2

Defending units:
Wake USN CPNAB
4th Marine Defense Battalion
56th Coastal Artillery Regiment
1st Marine Defense Battalion
6th Marine Def Bn /1
It looks like only the Guards Mixed Bde attacked (mandatory SA at an atoll) and got wiped out. That the SNLF did not join in suggests it is suffering - perhaps lack of supply or fatigue from previous attacks. If you have plenty of supply keep bombarding them with your artillery and surface ships. Save your CV bombs for the next wave of ships. And expect subs to start showing up now that a few days have passed since your reinforcements and CVs arrived. Your CVs MUST move every turn to avoid them.

TF407 is unloading the armored unit of the 2nd Recce Bn ( AUS ) and even though it's unloading very slowly it is unloading. It's taking longer because none of the ships can dock because the port is so small. This spot needs some engineers to help build up the base.

I have so many transports already docked loading supplies that there's no room for any more transports so I thought I'd send the rest of them ( 26 ) to Port Stanley and thence to the Panama Canal and thence to EC, etc.

Three DD's appeared at San Diego one day and I immediately tasked them to go to Seattle and escort the BB there back to San Diego to pick up CV Yorktown and THEN head out to Pearl. I've set a waypoint at SFO because I want to drop off the AVD in TF286 there. That way I can steam a bit faster which is a good thing all things considered.

EDIT: After picking up the BB at Seattle and TF286 was already on it's way back to SAN when CV Yorktown finally appeared at the pier in SAN.

Dutch Harbor finally received enough supplies to get started on building an airfield because a level '1' is better than nothing at all. I suppose I could run some float planes out of there which reminds me, I need to run a PBY out to DH and soon.

I just looked into DH's air support situation and found that there's none to be had. I gotta ship in a different ENG unit to supply some air support because I plan on basing some fighters there ASAP. And a PBY.

TF44 finished loading a CD unit and an ENG unit with 28 for air support which is just what the doctor ordered for Dutch Harbor. They leave within the hour.

Those transports could have gone directly to EC USA. It will take over a month to get them back from Port Stanley.

I had a SeaBee (CB) unit at DH for a year and did not get a level 1 AF. SPS (0) is just too low. Build the AF on the adjacent island and use DH for its port only.
Oh, and BTW, it's winter and construction of any kind will be at half the normal rate.

oh. I did not know that. Good to know. Thanks for the heads up. I really appreciate all these good ideas 'cause I'm not an expert ( yet ).

ouuuu. Not a good sign of times to come. BTW, what is SPS ( supplies / second ? ). Also using the adjacent island for the airfield is a great idea. I'll get started.

SPS is Standard Potential Size - the rating of the potential of the base for building a port or airfield. The higher the number in brackets, the easier/cheaper in supplies and engineer points it is. You can build up to 3 levels higher than the SPS (#), but you use progressively more supplies and effort to do that. Max build is to Level 9. All the Level 10s on the map are there at game start and they took decades or centuries to get to that level!
