Viberpol; no Michael didn't. I don't think we have enough..."quantitative" evidence for this yet but I'm pretty sure there is an issue here.
What I think is happening is that to scale down A2A lethality engagements are broken off earlier. With large groups of ac clashing we repeatedly see
that large number of fighters simply skirmish and that the bulk of the bomber stream slips through.
The results of this is that a base protected by 500 CAP fighters can be nuked by a single 4E attack.
With the removal of the "bug" that allowed us to rail damaged air units out of bases this means that the 500 CAP fighters will be trapped in the now 100 damaged base and
can be nuked next turn.
However, it also means that large scale carrier battles often will end like the last battle we had with Andy; the bulk of Jap CAG bombers simply slips through an Uber CAP and
kills the fleet. Vice Versa would always a risk in 44 anyway since Allied Hellcats and Corsairs are so superior to the Jap Zeke.
So if we risk a full scale carrier fight with Andy's reformed fleet we will most likely be able to hit it with a hammer again...
This turn was interesting to say the least!
We finished the damaged CVE - confirmations was 40 Wildcats and Avengers reported destroyed on the ground [:)]
The enemy fleet continues to hammer Line Islands but no sign of an invasion fleet.
Our air and naval assets were able to evacuate to safety.
In Burma an artillery regiment "opened" the border to the trapped 4th Division; supply now flows and the division has started its slow
trek through the jungle towards friendly lines. Andy needs to take some major action to cut it off completely again. So perhaps we'll manage to
get it out one day!
Our Army in Central Burma has also crossed the river north of Chiang Mai; it's now marching towards "freedome". I've left a rearguard.
Already a full division has reached Chiang Mai, it is reduced to 2/3 fighting strength and I will keep it at Chiang Mai for R&R in reserve.
So things are looking up in Burma for now.

Sub Attacks
The last patch split sub torpedo tubes; we now have 2-3-4x2 tubes and not all are loaded.
So the Captain is forced to fire salvoes of 2 fish...suspect this CVE of running the gauntlet unescorted though.
