I spotted an enemy surface combat TF at Samarinda, and since CAP was relatively
low I planned a sweep/naval air strike for the next day.

An enemy carrier TF and transports are approaching Macassar and continous air attacks
are launched. I will reinforce the place from the air before the landing. With 9 forts it is
worth a little effort.

The air strike from Brunei goes in - very fighter heavy as usual. Too bad
not all of the bombers could launch at once in order to optimize results.
If you count in the 22 losses from the sweep, the 22 enemy fighters shot down 66
of our Zekes. That's just laughable. 8 Warhwaks and 2 P-47s were shot down in the process.
At least our bombers got through, but their agile targets were difficult to hit.

In the PM phase a follow up strike was launched: this time 42 enemy fighters
were on CAP....and one bomber got through to be shot down by flak.
110 attack ac shot down by the Samarinda CAP today. 10 defenders shot down
and 1 destroyer damaged. As I told Andy: I doubt I would finish this game if I hadn't
spent so much time and effort on it.
It's simply impossible even to think about attacking an Allied base, cause losses even
to a few enemy fighters are so cripling. Utter show stopper!! [:(]

Air Losses from the strike on Samarinda
I have ordered some kamikaze units to launch against the enemy ships near Macassar.
This includes Zekes and Grace bombers. I don't have any scruples against putting them on max
altitude after todays slaughter above Samarinda...
My guess is that Kendari will be bombed into rubble by B29s, so it's doubtful whether the kamis will
be able to sortie. Their exp is so low that expected hit % is very low.
I am trying to train a portion of my fighters and bombers to very high exp levels since our medium exp
units are slaughtered 10-1 by the enemy. I will not attempt to hit enemy units protected by a CAP again
until I have to.
