Really? I never knew that. Is it something we have to do or does it happen automatically? What converts to them?

Disregard; I misread the upgrade path in the editor. You get what you have on 12/7, and that's it.

If you mean they are converted into artifical reefs this is correct. Otherwise no. [;)]

One of the more uneventful days we've had lately.
The S-27, moving from PH to her permanent station at Darwin had literally blundered into Faber's TF that was moving to Truk after unloading in the Solomons and hit an empty AP several days ago. Now, she's done it again. This time she walked in on what apperas to be a bombardment TF in the Gili area. No hits, as she was driven away by destroyers. The TF seems to consist of the Yamashiro, several DDs and probably several cruisers as well. It looks as if Faber is attempting to shut down the PM airfield by naval bombardment in lieu of an arial one. This one could get interesting. PM air contributed only one bomb on the Yamashiro but the enemy is yet out ofrange of both Beauforts and SBDs. The Darwin cruiser squadron has been alerted to proceed to the area, but will be kept at a safe distance until the situation becomes more clear.
S-40 hit the AP Hakozaki Maru off Java...no troops aboard.
Other than this, there is surprisingly little to report. The Bostons and Mutchells are once again flying on Lautem now that the Forts have cleared the big, bad Zeros out.
Faber launched his first assault on Soerabaja today. I lost a fort level (now 6 and some 80-odd%) and 700 men. Faber lost 1200 and change. His assault force currently stands at 3 IDs, a para regiment and an engineer unit.

OK, so that bombardment TF is still proceeding up the coast. They treated the S-27 to another dephcharging but caused no serious damage. The confirmed composition of the TF now stands at Yamashiro, Mikuma, Kinugasa and 6 DDs.
Two more Hudson units have been moved to Moresby to cover the gaps left by damaged aircraft. I am learning that the Hudson is a damned fragile little beastie. Out of the 30-some Hudsons I had at Moresby originally, all but 3 are now in the fender shop after two days of attacks on that BTF. Hopefully, the 20 fresh planes I just moved in will help cover the balance until the wrench monkeys can put the damaged planes on the flight line again.
I am again dissapointed by the rotten timing of it all. My CVs are still blissfully sitting in Sydney. Not only is the place too far for a timely responce but I am also having an acute fuel shortage. I am also waiting for the Yorkie, which is still a good 4-5 days out.
A TF bearing another Australian brigade bound for PM has been halted a bit south of Cairns. Another TF with the 808 EAB aboard will also travel to about that mark and then halt, pending some sort of resolution there. The good news is that all the supplies have now been successfully unloaded. If you recall, I had 3 AKs in PM delivering supplies when they were struck by Betties out of Rabaul. Two ships were damaged. As a result, I disbanded the whole thing, waited for the FLT to be patched up, and then took them out in singletons to unload. This has now been completed and I am rather glad.
Sub Scores:
S-35 hits AP Kyushu Maru...1 torp, no troops
S-23...AP Hakozaki Maru...1 torp, no troops
Sailfish bounced a dud off the AP Yoshinogawa Maru south of the Home Islands but as I said, those dud wagons are just there for annoyance purposes....and a little XP.
No big air news for me, but Faber has brough in a hefty number of bombers to Batavia to hit Soerabaja. The first day of strikes turned a bit *ssways for him, however. He did get about 20% damage on the airfield, but lost 6 bombers to flak and apparently another half dozen operationally. On the minus side, there is no more CAP at Soerabaja. The last 2 339 units have been transferred to OZ with one remaining fighter apeice.
Now for the big news. Clark held off another attack!!!!! I am simply amazed at these guys. I lost more than 2500 men to Faber's 1900, but by Thread, they held again.!!!! It cant last long though. I am now running out of supply. [:(]
Faber took unoccupied Davao, no attack on Soerabaja although he may be waiting for the BTF he has moving down the coast now.
On the operational side, 2nd MarDiv almost done unloading, only several staff tyewriters are left aboard ship, as well as the general's wardrobe.
The Aircobra and P-40 units assembling steadily in Brisbane and Sydney respectively. I am resisting the impulse to start moving the Tomahawks to PM peicemeal. I would much rather move them in in one shot and b*tchslap the next fighter sweep that Faber throws at them instead of frittering them away. Also, TF bearing the BF and air support unit, as well as another Aircobra group, is now about 3 days out of Brisbane.
I have decided that it is time for the Flying Tigers to start earing their Chinese currency. A detachment of the AVG numbering 22 planes has been transferred to Yenen. Those unescorted Sallys Faber keeps shuttling there should get a nasty surprise tomorow.

A surprisingly weak bombardment force. Maybe the Penguin is only sending what he can afford to lose. Do you have any bombers capable of reaching from mainland Australia?
Go Tigers!!

So I found out what that BTF is composed of. Harlock, you take the Penguin too lightly, he would never send BBs out in singletons. What is actually there was the Yamashiro and Hyuga (odd couple, no?), all 4 Mogamis and 6 DDs. And I found this out when the TF bombarded PM. No surpsise there. They managed to hit the airfield for bout 20% damage and obliterated 8 Feauforts and 2 Tomahawks. What is a surprise, however, is that there is another TF there, tentatively valued at 2 CVs and 4 CAs. But given my shoddy recon it could very well be the entire KB.
The Yorkie is still about 3 days out of Sydney, and I dare not engage with only 3 carriers. Even with 4 I am betting that I'll get trounced. Nonetheless, I'm going to sortie when the Yorkie arrives and take my dice rolls.
The Darwin cruisers are still moving south, but I'll have them stand off for now. Truth be told, I'm still not sure what the Penguin is up to. If he tries to land, he'll certainly get a fight. But a part of me thinks that he's just fishing for my carriers.
As it stands now, the BTF is retreating. Either Faber forgot to click Do Not Retire, or he's done there. The next move will either be a transport TF on the horizon or the CVs (if, in fact that is what they are), will stand around for a few days and beat feet.
Sub Scores:
S-23 hit the already damaged AP Hukuyo Maru with 1
O23 hit AK Azawisan Maru with 1
But O21 got pretty badly mussed up by an ASW TF. Now on her way to Darwin.
Dissapointingly, no *sswhoopin at Yenen. Either hey had bad eather or they heard the can about to be opened.
Another assault on Soerabaja. Fort stays at 6, Faber lost 1060, I lost 820. Not good odds.

Unfathomable are the ways of the Penguin.

The bombardment TF is definitely leaving. It is now almost back to Rabaul. I still have no idea what that was about. Maybe he was just trying to get the rust out of his gun barrels. But the CV (?) TF has been spotted again. Its stranding by a tad southwest of Gili. I'm hoping that he'll get bored with sitting around and go back to whence he came. In the meantime, I'm going to try to sneak the 30 Australian Bde and the 808th EAB TF by them along the coastline. The Darwin Squadron is now on station, well back.
No successful sub attacks today. [:(] Either way, the naval traffic around Java has dropped significantly.
To offset that, some very good news from the Soerabaja flyboys. One of my Beauforts planted a torpedo into the aft quarter of the Nagato.
Still no strike at Yenen.
The only ground combat was Faber taking Green Island at the Rabaul end of the Solomons chain.

That CV TF is still there. [8|] Still doing nothing. In any case, I have not spotted any invasion TF yet.
I think Faber is getting bored. For no reason that I can discern, he decided to bombard Bataan. For his trouble he got 4 holes in the Ise. So now that he's discovered that my CD still works, what now?
The raid on Yenen finally came, but the result was weak. I shot down 7 Sallys, damaged a dozen more and made hald of the 54 plane strike turn back. However, I had only half my Tomahawks up...but, but, but theyre set on 70% CAP. WTF? [:@]
No sucessful sub or air attacks.
Clark defeats another attack!!!! 3300 Penguins dead to 2550 of my boys. Supplies running out. 1:1 odds. [:(]

What a disappointment at Yenen. BTW, those were the Tigers I was cheering for -- not spamming about the playoffs.
The only thing I can think of is that his CV TF is there to cut off your reinforcements to Port Moresby. His rather light bombardment has given him an idea of whether or not you have mines and/or CD units there.
Amazing story of endurance at Clark!!
