600 supplieso ne day, 200 the next -- that second is a bit below the average consumption when there were no attacks!

I'm a little fuzzy on the supply model when you are the defender -- will you burn up the 6000 required supply a day if Andy attacks, or only if you chose an attack on his forces?

Think the supply levels will wary a bit, but an average of 600 pr day sounds reasonable.
If Singapore can hold on for 3 more months is doubtful, but if it doesn't it should be a supply issue.
Can always open an air supply bridge and bring in a few more thousand if necessary.

Checked the reserves of HI: 670062
So even if we run out of oil we can continue producing at full capacity for quite some time.
Must admit I don't know how many HI are required each day.

Yesterday I spotted a TF sailing past the Marianas. My smaller naval attack units
didn't attack and the TF was identified as AK/AP/CA. Was a bit sceptical and ordered
more naval bombers to Iwo Jima an Saipan.

Today the enemy TF turned out to be a carrier TF that stopped by the Bonins and hit
2 supply convoys there. Our planes at Iwo didn't attack - fortunately. Didn't have the
200 fighters required to get through a cv Uber CAP.

Of course Andy chose the optimal timing, can't remember having 5 TFs in the area for months.
Despite rain his cv's and their targets were all in the clear - ALL day long [8|]

Mostly disbandoning shipping and preparing naval bombers if Andy weers to close to a hornets
nest. I did actually sortie the KB, but they're returning to base. Nothing to be gained here.
The Zuikaku hasn't joined the fleet yet either, but she's down to 7 sys damage.

Hi,
good job on those nasty subs [:D]
If you want to know what to expect from the red juggernaut you can try the Manchuko scenario. Of course in the scenario there is no forts, no preparation, no a/c to speak of and most troops s***. Still a couple of 2500+ AP Mech Corps rolling up your rail lines is impressive.

My asw ships gain exp extremely slowly, would be lucky to find anyone with more than 56....
Not sure what they have to do, but fighting surface battles seems to be the only way to gain exp quickly - and that shouldn't
really count towards asw capabilities [8|]

I'm building lots of forts and preparing a lot of defensive positions in Manchuko, no doubts the Red Steam Roller will be
difficult to stop. Will be a welcome diversion from the Uber CAP though.....

Today I had a good laugh when the Uber CAP showed itself from its most extreme side:

Suicide Run

I've reserved this section for the Uber CAP [:D]
I'm starting to understand how Ron must feel everyday about most things in WitP now...

From Bangkok I gathered 100 Betties and 200 Oscars as the enemy transports and carriers that
hunted my tanker convoy had entered the port. From 7 hexes the bombers struck and I hoped that
the in port penalty would reduce the enemy CAP. The CAP wasn't extreme - 'only' 86 fighters.
They still shot down 120 of the 123 Oscars and 55 Betties [:D]

This would mean that each of the enemy fighters were perfectly positioned to first deal with all 120
fighters and then the bombers....averaging 2 kills pr Doodle fighter jock!

As I predicted some 20 Betties got through - but instead of attacking the enemy carriers they hit the transports
and scored 1 hit...... [:D] The planes were all expendable, but this just shows how impossible flawed the A2A model is.
I know we knew this, but still, can't do nothing but complain as this is HAS to be DEALT with - ASAP!

The enemy carriers moved just a few hexes to Bonin Isl. The island got 4 af and 250 AS, but
I prefered to protect Home Island bases and not risk a suicide run. It's impossible to launch
enough ac from size 4 bases to penetrate the enemy Uber CAP.

The results of the extreme a2a and CAP routines mean that enemy carriers can move almost
wherever they like as long as they stay > 6 hexes from any size >7 base.

The Ohka is probably worth nothing in the game I fear (as it was in real life). IIRC you only get 9!!! per month and I bet if you get off a raid they will attack some AKs instead of high value targets...

Yeah, you only get 9 per month. It is commonly thought that we should be getting 90 per month and that it is a typo.

Not many have played WitP into 44-45, so I guess Matrix has worked towards improving the game
in 42...were most people play?

Andy finally sent his Superforts after my training bases in China!

Well, sending 172 Superforts from Georgetown, an isolated malaria base in Malaya, is quite impossible
in itself. But the funniest thing is that when the 172 Superforts arrived over Nanning almost all our ac
were out raiding Kweiyang! So except from the 20 or so damaged Bettys that were refitting there, we
didn't loose anything! [8D]

I've been expecting a visit, but decided to continue training until he did.
Most of my bases have large number 80+ exp interceptors - will put them on 90% CAP.
If - or when - the Forts come back they should expect heavy casualties...and now Andy knows that it's
possible that the rest may be out raiding the Chinks [:D]

Looks like the enemy carriers are heading back towards the Marshalls...
The sunk a dozen transports, cargo ships and a few escorts. Can live with that.

The Zuikaku is down to 6 sys damage, a few more days and it will receive its last upgrade.
3 fleet carriers and 3 cvl's - that's one of Andy's carrier TFs! Have to use it wisely.
A small miracle that we still have a KB left.

Kwantung Area Army

This is the defensive line I've been building. 9 forts even in open terrain [8D]
There will be a few fortress cities (red circles), and the MLR will follow the river.
Even powerful mech corps will have to face formidable defenses.

Not sure it would be worthwhile to sacrifice a Bde or Div to defend the outlying bases,
even though they have 9 forts. Think it is smarter to gather as many troops as possible in
the 'choke points' and force a battle of attrition with several fall back positions with
heavy forts. Only 8-9 months until we got yet another war on our hands! Fortunately it will
only last 6 months....

Not sure why Andy went in from 6k feet... Little opposition at Nanning, but Wuchow holds 1100 AP and lots of tripple A!-)
Maybe only half his strike went in, still the results would have been bloody.

Those Tojos were one of 2 remaining units. They upgrade to the late 12/44 version of the Frank. I've trained them to 86 avg exp [:D]
The Zekes were all >75 exp, so the B-29s asked for it. Still way to bloody and 'wrong' results, but I've been in the receiving end for too long to care.

Hopefully this means that Andy will be much more hesitant using B-29s outside of escort fighter range. He will soon get his first long range P-51 fighters.
Think that's end 44, early 45?

Yes, but when I checked in my Allied WitP game I noticed that no units equipped with the P51 arrives until the end of 44,
beginning of 45 [:)] Haven't seen any yet, nor have I missed them [:D]

Can't say there was a lot of interesting action today...B-29s attacked several targets
in smaller waves with little to show for it.

I'm just hanging in there, repairing ships, traning troops and building forts.
With the Zuikaku we will finally have a potent carrier force again and quite a few cruisers
and destroyers will also return to duty shortly.

Some 220k crude is being unloaded in Japan right now, should help a little on the oil reserves.
Will be difficult to get another shipment that big through.

A large LCU reached Saigon, this is one of the few non-malaria bases, and I will use it as
a base for my reserves in the area.

Substantially fewer enemy subs around now, wonder why [;)]

Kwantung Area Army

Sounds reasonable. However, perhaps you can do there something more?

Here is how Imperial Pauk Family[;)] see Kwantung area defence. In fact this is a same plan as yours but think you could buy a week or two (the whole idea is buy some time till reinforcement units - regain their strength - they are coming in awful condition) .

Since all your reinforcement troops should arrive before Russian invasion you will have a plenty of troops for great maskirovka plan. I would leave significant forces at the frontier bases (even three of four division in each base on the border with Russia). You can set one or two units in each base to prepare for these border bases, while other would prepare for your main defensive line. The goal is forcing Russian troops to prepare for border bases - just before start of invasion you can easily withdraw your first line troops to the "Orange line " and make a "final stand"[;)] there.

If Andy buy this story he will loose quite a lot PP for keeping his units to prepare on border bases. Now, you may see that "Orange line" bases or hexes are almost all with some kind of bonus (woods, mountains, rivers) - perhaps it would be worth to try to delay enemy there? (Would be nice to keep Harbin with Shinden factory [:D] ALAP)... even if you decide not to make stand on the Orange line you can easily withdraw to the Yellow defensive line -

Even on Yellow defensive line you don't need to defend all for any cost - a determined defence here will delay Ruskies but once when situation become desperate (danger of being encircled!) you can make a last stand on Red defensive line!

I see that you are well prepared for eventual air terror once when his bombers came into range of HI... but i'm bit worried about night bombing campaign - afraid there is nothing it could be done since Jap radar is broken[:(]... however, despite that i'm training my night fighers - perhaps crack pilots can do something?

That's a very good analysis Pauk-San! All Kwantung area Army bases have 9 forts, and those in mountainous terrain will
be very hard to defeat. The current defensive ring is manned with the best forces we got, so for now we can't expand it.
Still, within 200 days another 32 divisions and brigades will arrive for Kwantung. This should make it possible to use
some 16 for an expanded perimeter.

Opposite to RL Kwantung Area Army got a lot of high quality units, even in the end of 1944.
It cost more than 3000 points to release a single division, and this can't be done often. In RL fresh divs were moved to Kwantung
while experienced ones were shuttled to the Pacific.

I suggest the following:
Units in China/Kwantung Area Army should be able to be swapped for similar units from other theaters.

This way it would be possible to simulate the exchange of green/vet units.
As it is Andy will run into a very professional and tough army when he unleashes his red hoards.

Been busy in Haugesund, my home town, this weekend.
Just played a turn and moved fuel and supplies around the theaters.
We lost a few tankers to enemy air attack and Singapore was hit hard - again.

Still, Singapore stands at 1008 AP with 64594 points. Andy got no less than 35 units stacked, preparing for the assault.
Guess he wants to overwhelm our defenders. I'm tempted to airlift in another regiment....no enemy LRCAP now.

The Zuikaku has received its 10/44 upgrade and is back to 8 sys damage, only 4 more than its sister.
All our carriers now have a decent AA suit. To bad the Taiho upgrade hasn't been 'fixed' in the last patches. She can't be
upgraded. In 2 days I will assemble a surface fleet of 1 ca, 3 cl and 11 destroyers that have been fixed or just included into
the Combined Fleet.

Our sub fleet with mines is passing Midway.

Tried to break the blocade and run an empty tanker convoy to Palembang. After being
spotted Andy simply moved his cv's from Kuantan south a few hexes and damaged 12 tankers
and escorts. Half have or will sink.

The rest, some 10 tankers should get through. Will run this oil to india.

Pretty fine impossible to threaten the enemy carriers because of the long range from out
bases and the effect of the enemy CAP. Still, no use for empty tankers in port.
