My final opinoins for this scenario---Was fun as Axis---I like the fact of being able to just concentrate on a small area in the opening of Barborossa(sp) with small unit density--makes for quick turns & enjoyable fast game. Believe It's also posibly good to give you a feel of the "east front" before moving on to larger scope scenarios on the same subject.

Larry can say better from his side--but this first installment might be better for axis vs po unless you have a easygoing opponent on the soviet side like I did.

We are looking to possibly going into the second installment of the Road to Moscow-Smolensk- 27 turns and looks like a little more playability for the soviet side. We will probably switch with me trying my hand on the defensive.

For a minute there -thought I would get an extra chance to get a marginal victory. This is what I got opening soviet turn 12:

Although sit briefing still saying 1 turn left but I guess that is it

As for my showing--to paraphrase a quote from a favorite book of mine----
.......Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them. With Toaw and Me it has been all three........[:D]

Here's the minimap moves movie from turns 0 throu 12. I must say that I found this scenario easy for the Soviet side since there was minimal moving involved. Most of the time the units were in reorg or reserve status and couldn't move so the most I had to do for many of the units was set them on ignore losses status. Toward the end of the scenario I was able to move a handfull of units and that came in handy.

I left the southern part of the map open to Axis advance in order to fortify Minsk and in hindsight I don't know if that was strictly necessary. I'm glad the game was a draw since I hate to hurt somebody's feelings by beating them.

Now we're going to do the part 2 of this series and I'm going to be the Axis this time.
