Jam - can you not reload the files he sent at various times?  Or have you deleted all those incoming mails already?

FWIW I think it is very hard to properly balance an east front WW2 game/scenario......invariably either the Germans get screwed quickly or the Russians can't hold out & collapse in a screaming heap. i'm unsure of this one from teh AAR.....no doubt Jam will claim the credit tho [:D]

i'm currently playing 2 FITE games in TOAW & it's certainly a fine line....one mistake & it an be all over very quickly

In a version of history reversed, Italian paras drop into Austrian village where Hitler is being held for trial..
Upon his release several senior Generals Vow to continue to fight on, as the West did not accept a partial peace surrender and were pressing for total surrender and milk privillages.

In the East, fearing anouther winter assualt the Hard pressing Rommania front forces which where turned away at the gates of Stalingrad force the Don at Rostove and poor accross shocking Soviet forces.

In the North the vital rail link to Moscow is severd and several "hexes " taken by advancing troops against limited oposition, seems all the troops are defending Stallingrad!
The Finns join in and advance too takingthe Mannerhiem fortifications retreated from early on in the conflict.. Lenningrad is in the VISE!!!

Note on my aborted "quit".. as we are rusuming this. I failed a SERIOUS issue ; supplies. It is always a barter, too much and your hqs sit around unable to move and u have basically wasted production  that could be more effeciently applied elsewere. not enough and your troops starve. I still had enough to provide some support, but I bought lots of inf and tanks to augment my artillery in the North.. I now own that area, so unless J fields some crack troops I believe I can force a win, at some terrible price, at Lenningrad.. It is the key in the North releasing the bottled up finns, cutting a major city off of his production.

In the South I now threaten the southern wing.. so He must look to counter-atttack or solidify his line or both, as my two strongest armies are still in the Karkov-Stallingrad-Rostov area and pose no little risk. Remember he gets a HUGE surplus in materials from Grosny, lossing it is lossing thewar for the reds! I cannot state the troops levels in the Crimia? we will see. He added fighters and flack great defensive troops but essentially useless against my ground armies in the region.  I expect to see more armor and artillery, my first priority targerts!

The drive continues in the South, and pressure in Crimia, but in Lenn we only exchange massive losses! I fear if I cannot get Len all may be lost! I could get a huge breakout, but there are just so many damn red army infantry.. hundreds in some attacks..

I wish the upgrade wherre lower rin cost and the troops cost more.. seems we are awash in cheap infantry!
If I get crimia and south breakout.. I may forstall collapse!.. seems unfair to not get 43 ss!

waaah I want my mommy

You don´t produce supply ??
At least not enough...

And where is the German Luftwaffe ?
Use them and use the artillery !

You play without the SS corps ?
But then i hope you also deactivated the Siberians, or ?

I think that might be one of Matt's biggest mistakes. Many of his forces have extremely low readiness, which indicates to me that he is either not producing enough supplies to regain readiness, or that he is simply not resting his troops enough, or...both.

He has been using them to fairly good effect. However, I've been able to catch his airforces in some flak/CAP traps and severely bloody them, as well as on the ground with concentrated artillery barrages. His artillery has been giving me fits, and I've retaliated by learning the lesson too well. There are over 20 each flak and artillery in Leningrad, and its airfield, with 5 more coming each turn. Those defensive barrages and counterattacks against his 10 readiness infantry have been decimating his frontline troops.

We are playing with the SS Korps, but it's still 1942...

In fact, Matt has a small advantage in the settings since we are not using Partisans. That would drain off another 50-70 subformations to safely hold and repair the cities in his rear. Other than the Partisans, Matt and I are using the same settings that you and I are. In my Axis game against him, we are using Partisans. It's okay with me though, since now I'm another step or two further along the learning curve than we were...[;)]

Hehe James, nobody said you´re a easy to beat opponent. The low readiness troops i know too good.
Matt, watch your supply production !!!
No wonder that i crushed the german army that easy. I often thought "hey, why it´s that easy ?".

And the SS arrive in 43, so why "seems unfair to not get 43 ss" when this option is activated ?
Want them in winter 41, right ? [:D] At least all the tigers and panthers you had in our game in 1941, Matt.

Btw, the partisans in this scenario attack only cities, so you have to put a garrison only to Riga, Minsk, Kiev and so on.
I used normally 20 rifle here. But 10-15 should be enough.
In "1939" the partisans appear randomly even on important supply lines. That´s much harder to handle.

@Freeboy
First try to produce as much supply as the front needs (+some reserve)
Then try to concentrate on either Leningrad or Moscow. Or get Leningrad and cut off the production from Caucasus.
You need to get control over the russian production. In 1943 your SS will arrive, but also a new siberan factory complex.
Common, take Leningrad and then attack the Murmansk hex to stop LL delivery !

unfortunately my tanks and infantry where destroyed and pushed back in the North.. and the center is a shambles.. AGS and associated ar pushing on the crimia Miokop Baku front.. Either I take all these in the South or we loss.
I made too many mistakes.. the German player must balacnce the forces, and it is frustrating to see 20-30 flack show up and destroy your air force u forgot to turn the tollerence for losses down on! OOPS
