Jamiam's demise, or How to march east

Post by freeboy »

Since we are both new this will be a friendly game of Russia 41, no partisans, nasty buggers, Murmansk on, captured war materials on, sov siberian reinforcemensts on. no SS, fog on, other?

Turn one, well, the Reds desolve everywhere.

We drive north towards Riga, and allong the other roads, brushing the Reds away like so many flies on a hot summer day, its France all over again, for now. In the bottum right is the second objective, Minsk. Caprturing these quickly is key to depriving the enemy of needed war resources.

In the South we failed completely to drive on Odessa, just not enough troops to do everything! here is the start of turn two near Odessa. Unlike in the North, the only troops here are the ones that could not run away fast enough.

and in the drive toward Kiev, another key early objective we see few red troops at the start of turn two, and these disappear quickly, our tanks and armored spearheads race East. one thing I learned from getting crushed by MR T, tom "the mean one " Webber, LOL was to build LOTS of trucks , armored cars , SUPPLIES, and ENGENIERS.. topped off by a powerfull aircore. So I raced engeneers forward and build forward airbases all along the front!
Here is the pix of the area heading toward Kiev turn Two

The red army is nowhere to be seen at the start of turn three, what few troops left make speed to the East, While My troops advance on the MAjor city and production sorce of Kiev. ONe important reason to take these cities is to deny the enemy resources and to break upo teh first river lines.. here and in the Riga area. Odessa is ocupied!

In the North Riga is advanced upon but not seized, shelled and isolated by sea. Troops near Minsk are destroyed but the city remains in red hands

Turn four, Aug 1941. We size Riga, minsk and approach Kiev, which is bombed and shelled.. This country is just too big to be overrun in two or three, or four mounths! I see some red army troops forming by Kiev and along the highway to Moscow, lets kill them andthe troops near Riga!.. I pound away from my forward air bases, I use large mobil Engineers, the rapidly advance and construct the fields, repair bridges etc... Now wait! Finland is being attacked...
Murmansk convoys start :([:-]
Lets see the builds screen before changes, Note I alwas make small, or large corrections each turn, for instance in teh beginning you want air and engeneers, sp?. then Suppluy and truck and mobil forces. one thing I ?, costs are VERY high to upgrade, I choose Divebomber2, hope it is correct chioce as I spend little on pp till turns 5-8

Lets make troops, expecially in Finland, and start making more armored cars and trucks... armored cars are great early, when you need to race ahead and seize objectives and there are no tanks to speak of, every enemy concentration gets nailed by my air force!
below is where we where... at the beginning of four.. followed by the changes in the build sceen in openingt5

you can see the changes made in turn four, more troops to flesh out our armies. more supplies, if we run our ofthese we grind to a halt.. what we are not making is defensive weapons, they will come later on..

I will add some screan shots through turn eight on Wednesday, all the way to winter's beginning. Lennigrad and Finland still very secure.. got to the outer edges of Moscow, but retreated due to Siberian SHOCK troops that arrive with experience and winter shock penelties.. have taken Karkov and racing against the wind from the river north of the Crimie and east towards Rostov Strallingrad and the oil in the South. Russia has to keep Baku in the south, it and Moscow are the big producers!

cheers.

The Glorious Soviet Socialist Republic will soon have an official announcement to counter the blatant lies and devious propaganda of the invading fascist horde - just as soon as our radio announcers and newspapermen come off their second shift at the AA gun factory...

I can't wait for the counterstrike in this one.
All those darkened hexes are full of troops I'll wager.
